Gully hideaway apartment

Amazing little place, it’s just beautiful! The hosts have a page of recommendations on things in the area which was really helpful. The work and passion put into this place, and the gardening is phenomenal. The hosts are friendly, including Trevor the cat which made us a visit 😸 10/10 recommend

The location was great (close to the venue I needed, as well as to shops and restaurants), the host was welcoming and the property was lovely. It was warm, light and comfortable, with all the amenities I might need. There is also a lovely deck at the back where you can sit and drink your morning coffee, surrounded by lush native bush which the owner is restoring. Perfect calm in a city.

This is such an amazing hidden gem. Not the kind of accommodation we would usually book, but this apartment tucked in a residential suburb was the perfect place for us as a couple to stay in Hamilton. The design and styling of the apartment was thoughtful, creative, and refined. The hosts provided a written explainer of the history of the apartment and the sourcing for the different decorations and furniture items which we enjoyed. Lots of travel and tourism materials provided and a local guide to the area. Kitchenette was well appointed and we just managed to cook a small dinner for two using the items and appliances provided: perfect for a night in sitting outdoor on the patio looking out into the lush gully surrounded by local bird life! Bed was very comfortable, and the shower was an unexpected joy (we won't spoil the surprise).

Just need to be careful coming in and out of the driveway, if you are brave you might be able to turn around but otherwise be prepared to reverse up quite a long drive to leave.

Quiet location, comfortable bed, easy walk to local shops for basics and take away from different cultures (Indian, Turkish Chinese Thai). Hosts were friendly, great to meet & gave helpful advice on local attractions.

Kitchenette microwave underpowered (500W) within a small grill oven made self catering a challenge for cooking meals for 2 ...probably better to eat out or takeaway if > 2 nights.

Peaceful location.

The Gully was a delightful place to stay. The accommodation was beautifully equipped and we loved that the owners shared a history of the place and the contents of the suite. The suite was very roomy and it was wonderful to sit quietly outside looking down at the gully. There was a grocery store and a number of restaurants within a short walking distance and we walked to and from the rugby stadium. Thus, the location was ideal for us. It is nice to stay in a place that you know is loved and that has been proudly designed.
