Apartment Bergen Central

Although the assistant didn’t seem too pleased about our arrival time and her phone call felt a bit tense, the host himself welcomed us warmly and made a great impression. He was friendly, helpful, and explained everything clearly — including where to park. The apartment is very well located in the center of Bergen. Inside, most things are new or well maintained, the floor is beautiful, and overall it was quite clean. The price is fair for Bergen. There’s a large TV, a washing machine, good Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom was clean and functional.

The apartment has a strong, unpleasant smell — something between damp concrete and mold. This odor had soaked into the bedding and towels, making it hard to feel comfortable. All windows open onto a narrow air shaft packed with noisy AC units, one of which is clearly broken and makes an unbearable sound. Below are garbage bins from a restaurant, and the staff throw trash — including bottles — straight from the second floor, making a shocking amount of noise. Closing the windows at night is not an option due to heat, but opening them makes sleep nearly impossible. The kitchen cupboard doors were sticky with grease, and the backsplash was dirty. The building itself is in terrible condition, with a depressing entrance and stairwell. This isn’t the host’s fault, but it affects the overall experience.

Very basic no frills flat . Furniture dated . Bed really uncomfortable. Entrance lift and stairs felt really dingy and the entrance area to the flat also felt unwelcoming.

Excellent location, right in the heart of the city. Very friendly and helpful host. Clean, comfortable, and spacious apartment. Perfect base for your stay in Bergen. Loved that there was a coffee maker and coffee. Wifi worked well.

Internet TV wasn't working. On Booking.com, this listing is advertised as having a fitness center, however it definitely does not have one. This was a little disappointing as it was one of the reasons we chose this place.

The location was very central, right in the city center and easy walk every where we needed to go. Access to the terrace was a bonus. The apartment itself was in a very old building. The host had arranged for a sofa bed for our son. That made the hall a bit of a tight squeeze for all else. Kitchen was more of a kitchenette, rather tiny, but functional to manage small meal preps. The host representative met us to hand over the keys and show us the apartment and terrace, when we checked in. I had requested for some pantry basics and they had organised that for us, at no extra costs, which was really sweet. There was a french press for coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, tea and coffee in the apartment. There was heating in the living room (fab!), windows that could be opened for ventilation, although sometimes it was a bit noisy in the (service) courtyard below. We were in apartment #701, on Floor 7. The bedroom was a bit tiny, and did not have its own proper heating. It seemed the heating was via the bathroom floor and on the first day took a while. For the 3 of us the place was adequate and while some things could have been better, we appreciated the location and the responsiveness of the host.

It would have been great to have bins in the bathroom and toilet. The toilet (which was separate from the shower) was super tiny and even my knees touched the wall, and I am 158 cm. My husband and son both at 180cm plus really struggled. It would have been great to have some modern heating in the bedroom. Toni (rep of the host) was quite helpful and suggested we crank up the heating to get the temp up in the room. The leather couch in the living room was not comfortable for lounging.
