Makalu Lodge

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Makalu lodge. It’s a really lovely hostel with a lovely atmosphere. The staff are super helpful, especially Sebastian. They went above and beyond to make our stay the best. They help organise all of the trips. We only wish we had more time here!

Amazing stay in Huaraz - highly recommend! The staff are so lovely and helpful and have so much knowledge on the hikes. Easy to book tours through them with zero hassle. The stay includes a free breakfast which a lot of the other hostels don’t include. The beds are comfy, warm blankets and curtains. Thank you for a great stay!

The location is a little bit of a walk out of town but not too bad.

Had an amazing stay at Makalu lodge! It is super sociable, has very nice common areas and the staff is super friendly. Plus, the breakfast is delicious and big enough to give you enough energy for a long hike;) There are tons of things to do - hikes, mountaineering, rock climbing and much more - just ask at the reception, they know the best agencies and you can easily book tours through the hostel (cheap & with professional guides). Thanks for the hospitality, I'd love to come back;)

The staff were rude and charged more than the amount listed on Booking.com. The facilities were pretty dirty, especially the bathrooms. The tours they offer are also far more expensive than those around town.

The team are amazing, between accommodating different arrival times and luggage storage and organising day trips and tours. I got a 4-bed dorm to myself while I was there which was glorious

It’s not the most central location so have to either walk 15min or get a taxi from the centre

Rooftop terrace! Great vibe overall, and little details like coffee and tea available, nice bathrooms with hot showers, curtains on beds and lots of outlets everywhere. The owner Richard is a great guy, super helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

The main door gets moody sometimes.
