The hosts were nice and friendly, the room was decent too.

The pain was the a/c/ and room temperature . All we wanted was a decent sleep before our early morning flight in a simple room with a/c. We suffered instead. The room was hot and stuffy. Windows closed and without mosquito nets. A/c not working. Sleepless night. The owner didnt turn on the a/c prior to freshen the room which is often customary. The a/c was not blowing cold air and fan barely worked We had to remove the mosquito net from the bed to be able to feel the little air from the fan however ending up getting beaten all night long by mosquitos as we had to keep windows just a bit open for some fresh air. I took 3 showers through the night to manage to get few hours sleep. Awfull night, it ruined my last day in Zanzibar and the next day as i was sleepless. Please dont advertise a/c room if you are unsure that your a/c works. Also please, install mosquito nets on the windows. Minumum things to give minimum comfort.

Host family super welcoming and host was up to welcome us despite the late arrival 4.30am (due to plane issues in Nairobi). Super clean, great bed. All was perfect.

I had a really bad experience during my stay here. The host was totally a racist. His first words were the following: "you're from Morocco. Yes. So you speak french. Yees 🤔. On va vous dégrader, on va te donner une chambre sans climat (we will downgrade you, we're going to give you a room without A/C). 🤷🏻‍♂️ The story here is that there was a couple from Switzerland that had booked the cheapest room (not incl. A/C). When they arrived they told him that they didn't pay attention. Then the host decided, without coming back to me, to give them the room with A/C that I've already booked. When I arrived, I wasn't aware of the situation. I already told him that A/C is a must for me. He showed the room and yeah I couldn't stand it. I thought brokedown and that we both booked the same thing. Then, I tried to get to a solution where the couple could keep the room since they're a couple and older than me. So the host told me that there is a room upstairs where he works that has A/C but with a single room and it wasn't that clean. Then he said the keyword "je me suis dit que tu viens du Maroc ça n'aurait pas été un problème pour toi la clim 😳. (I told myself you're from Morocco, it wouldn't be an issue for you the A/C). A really bad experience. It's the first time that I experience a racist treatmemt where normally I should have been treated as a customer. The worst, is that the host didn't even apologise. Until I told about what he has done and how I felt and the fact that he didn't even apologise to me. He said "je suis désolé pour ce qui s'est arrivé" (I'm sorry for what happened) as if he was the victim.

I could just land and walk to the place. Aircon, super clean, great owners, I had a really good night sleep there!!!

The overall location is perfect for a night before or after your flight as it is very very close to airport. Checking in and out is super easy and very friendly. The owners checked us in before the stipulated time as we were early. The owners are very friendly and made us feel at home. They gave us tips of getting around and they were there to help when we needed an iron and kitchen utensils. Infect we had access to the kitchen, sitting room and the fridge. The room was clean, warm water to shower and super comfortable bed. The room I used had a balcony to relax, though there is no beautiful views from there. Very close to a supermarket that is reasonably priced and there is a hotel next to the supermarket with a restaurant.

The rooms are inside a house, I must have missed that when booking so I was surprised. The shower is a similar style to most establishments in the city, where the shower throws water all over the bathroom.
