Bellaire Midtown Cottage

We booked this home for 2 nights for the 4th and were very exited as the home and lakes looked stunning! When we walked into the home it was relatively clean but smelled like freshly smoked marijuana. We notified the host of the smell and tried to cancel 1 of 2 nights due to me having high sensitivity to smell but was willing to spend 1 night in the home (we drove 7 hours to get there and there were no available properties nearby). But the host Daniel told us due to system limitations he can’t cancel 1 night and gave us the option to either stay for both nights or cancel the entire reservation. He agreed to refund us the full amount if we cancelled both nights. We opted to cancel the reservation and go elsewhere (drove an additional 3 hours to Detroit) but we have yet to receive our refund as the host has blocked our phone numbers and refuses to contact booking.com regarding the refund resulting in me having to contact my credit card to dispute. He has been nonresponsive to messages via booking.com as well. Unfortunately, booking.com is unable to refund us without Daniel’s written confirmation. We never stayed at this property but are still fighting to get our promised refund weeks later.

The house was nice, and the living room was super comfy and could have easily just stayed in and watched movies all weekend! The bathroom was very clean and updated.

This is NO FAULT of the hosts, but there was an earwig that had found its way into the room I was staying in. There are several trees all around the house, so it makes sense that bugs would get in eventually.

The house was clean and cozy. The beds were very comfortable, and we weren't far from Torch Lake 😁 I woke up to a flat tire, and the nice neighbor helped me out 🙂

Their were some bugs flying around, especially flies. The window was opened slightly when we arrived with no screen, so this could've been the cause. Otherwise, a great stay 😁

Where do I begin. The location first of all. The cottage was located in between 2 houses that were very questionable(IYKYK). The neighborhood was very sketchy to where we almost just stayed elsewhere. Bugs. My daughter and I kept getting bit by something in the house. The air mattress they provide had a hole. The owners stated they would message me the door code the day before checkin…then when I asked for it, they said the next day. It made me think it was a scam but they did send it the day of. I would not recommend staying here. There were broke down cars parked in the yard of the cottage also. Oh and you couldn’t watch the TV in the one bedroom because something was wrong with the service or something idk.

Very cozy, comfortable couches… good shower , remodeled recently. Charming popcorn machine . Tv on both bedrooms and big screen on the leaving room. Very spacious Parking space on the back yard, could fit two trucks and two jetski trailers . Located in a quiet neighborhood where everyone was super friendly and it is just 10 minutes walk from downtown. Close to supermarket, pharmacy and gas station is right across the street. House that fits 4 people comfortably.

The only thing I would recommend is to have a bigger kitchen table to fit 4 people instead of two. It would be nice to have a toaster. It would be an upgrade to have some seats on the front porch to relax and chat. Even with these few particular suggestions, We will ,for sure, come back and recommend this property.
