Casa Hamidane

This is a lovely little one bedroom apartment in the Medina area of Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen is built on a hill, and this property is at one of the higher points so does involve climbing quite a few steps (though you can get a taxi very close to it if you like - I'd recommend this if you have luggage!). However this means that that you aren't super close to the crowds, and so it's a quiet area. The property consists of a large living room, ample kitchen, shower/toilet and good sized bedroom with a double bed. It's very nicely decorated. There is a small private walkway just outside the front door with a nice view, and also a shared roof terrace you'll have access to (it's quiet, I only ever met one other person up there) that has a lovely view of the city - great place to sit at night to relax. Within a minute's walk of the property there's a bakery that serves delicious freshly baked bread each morning.

Just small things. The lights in the property are a bit dim - I kept the front door open in the day time to let more light in. There's also only really enough hot water for one person. If you are a couple you'll have to shower fast, or 4+ hours apart. The TV didn't receive any signal and the Wi-Fi was hit and miss. The only major issue was that it was difficult to find. Chefchaouen is a bit of maze, and Google maps will get you close but not quite there, and the host doesn't speak much English so can't direct you unless you speak the local language (or perhaps French) if you call them. The accommodation has no signs whatsoever, and not even a sign on the building itself. It took me about 30mins to find even using Google maps and asking locals for help. Once you do find the place though, you'll have a lovely time and enjoy your stay.

The house is really nice, I loved the design of the furniture. It has one living room and one bedroom. The toilet and the shower are together, but this is something common in Marocco, and the sink is in a small hallway. The scenery is nice and you can also go up on the terrace to see it form a higher point. You also have like a small terrace outside the house where you can relax. It's situated in the medina, but not on the commercial roads. The price is good for what you get.

You have to go up a lot of stairs, a lot, to get to the house. The light it's quite dim in the living room. The kitchen it's ok, but if you want to cook a big meal I don't think you have all you need, for me it wasn't a problem because I didn't cook. Be careful because some big ants (not a lot, a few) might come if you leave food on the counter. I had some problems with the wifi.

We enjoyed our stay. The host was really friendly and the communication was good. The appartement has a beautiful terrace with a view on the mountains. The interior is good. We had everything we need.

They don’t have a closet for your clothes, which honestly is not that big of an issue, just something to mention. There are a lot of stairs to get to the airbnb, because it is on a hill.
