Stayed at Ancestral and had a great time. Big shoutout to Diana at reception who tracked down my lost headphones when I’d already given up on them. Would definitely come back.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The toilets and showers were outside the main building (and it can get cold at night in Lima). Furthermore, the number of toilets was not enough for the number of guests. Doors of the dorms were not locked (no keys were given) so it didn't really feel safe to leave my stuff in the room.

The location and building are wonderful. In the hostel there are many pretty good community places like, terrace, inner co-working hub, hanging area with swing, a little space with books and sofas. Inside and outside showers and toilets. In the building the Ancestral Barranco Restaurant works next to the hostel. The hostel is very close to the ocean, great view from the hostel and from the street as well to the Pacific ocean. The neighbourhood is very social. Many cute cafes, restaurants, bars, bistros, stores, supermarkets , local laundromats, banks with ATM, pharmacies, parks. Pretty attractive buildings, in peaceful environment but still great local unique vibe. This area is Lima's art district. Many local little stores what are connected to the arts with their products. Very colorful, vibrant, liveable area.

The building's main area concentrates on the restaurant.
