Kibwana Beach Bungalows & Diving

It's pretty intimate, with only 3 bungalows, and it's straight on the beach with great views over the lagoon and ocean. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also have their own diving center, including the option to get a PADI diving license. The diving instructors are competent and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay there :)

The wifi wasn't really working :(

The 3 'bungalows' are operated by a diving school. It has no pool, no air conditioning and is very basic. BUT you are located straight at the beach which is exactly why you want to come here for. Excellent located affordable beach huts for backpackers, kite-riders, singles and young couples who travel on a budget.

The rooms are really small, and barely fit the double-bed and your suitcases. I booked for 3rd party and the person said breakfast was on the low end. Not entertainment for kids except beach, no aircon for elderly.

This was our favorite place we stayed in Zanzibar! Kibwana and Baraka were fantastic hosts. Don't miss out on the food! Their restaurant is a hidden gem and very reasonably priced for the quality. The rooms are comfortable, clean and cool with an unbeatable view of the beach. I would absolutely recommend Kibwana's place and would definitely stay again!

The team at Kibwana is amazing. From the first moment, to the very last, the helped me with anything to make my stay as comfortable and fun as possible. I loved the place, it's right on the beach. The rooms are basic in the good sense of the word: cozy and with the fresh air from the sea blowing through your windows curtains. I highly recommend staying here and making friends with the crew. Specially thanks to my buddy Jeff!

Great location with diving and snorkeling experts on ground

I loved everything at Kibwana Cottages village. The cottages right on the beach are nice and confortable. Breakfast is delicious every morning. You can also have lunch and dinner on the terrasse right in font of the ocean. They also have possibilities to do snorkeling and diving to Mnemba island just in front of the cottages. I went diving with Tim for two dives next to Mnemba, and I loved it. I can’t recommend you enough to try the experience. You can’t be disappointed. Not only Tim is very professional , but also a very nice person

Nothing

Matemwe is my favorite place in Zanzibar and Kibwana hut is a big factor. Located right off the beach, I can hear the sound of the waves from my room and walk to the beach in 5 seconds. Unlike Nungwi and Stone Town beaches, Matemwe has a special charm that comes with being not as developed. It is not crowded with tourist, there aren’t people trying to sell me something every 5 seconds, and the place feels calming and relaxing. I also got to do a 3 mile run on the beach which was fun. Villager men come out to fish and kids play football in the sand. I usually like to keep these places to myself for selfish reasons, but I am thankful to have experienced it at this time and want to support Kibwana to get more business. Did I mention that this place is very affordable? Kibwana built the hut after his divers complained about hotels nearby costing a fortune.
