Mokuren Traditional Boutique Townhouse

Great local house, roomy and a nice Japanese look & feel. The kitchen was well equiped, the washer/dryer was very nice and the location is very good as well in a nice neighberhood.

The traditional Japanese beds (mats on the floor) and small pillows were fine for the children, but as an adult male I found it hard and uncomfortable (the couch as well). There also were some signs to be quiet in the evening, so keep that in mind if you plan some social activity.

Amazing location 10/10! It was so easy to walk to restaurants, bars, and was great having several konbini just steps away. We loved the ambiance of the home, the tiny garden out back was super precious with its own little Japanese maple! The shower was maybe my favorite part of the whole stay! Nothing compares to having a nice sit in the hot shower to relax after a long day of walking around. There was plenty of space for our group of 6 to spread out and relax. We loved the heated floors as well.

Literally zero complaints!

Worked great for our group while we explored Kyoto, and also allowed us to get a more traditional experience as opposed to a hotel. Very clean upon arrival, check-in instructions were great, and close to the train station!

Our family of five had a lovely three nights at Mokuren. The location was terrific - easy access to public transport and close to all things Gion. The house was spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was easy to manage. We all left saying we can’t wait to go back!

Great location, loved the traditional housing and comfy floor mats. It was a little cramped for 6 people, but would be perfect for a couple or group of 4. We had a great time!

There was some confusion on the check-in time, and there were several bags of trash left at the entrance. However, the owner came by quickly to pick these up once we messaged him.

It's la traditional Japanese house. My family is so happy to experience staying at this place with a traditional living place sitting place sitting on the floor with a view of little garden at the back of the house. The host is very helpful, fast respond. Thank you.

Lack of instruction of using the facilities in the house. Maybe it would be nice if stick a little instruction let's say on the washing machine how to use it. Don't know where to throw our trash when is full. There's a QR for manual but is my fault didn't read it 😂 Wifi is very slow, The QR code to connect to wifi is not connected to 5G. Same name wifi, one with 5G and there other one without 5G. But the wifi in the morning runs pretty good

The best part of this property was the classic Japanese style feeling of the home. Every room was very clean and the best part is the washer/dryer!

There wasn’t much to dislike.

Location was excellent easy to walk to many places but also close to trains. Location was quiet but restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

Futon was not comfortable for me but others in the family find them ok.

Excelent location. Everything in the house was perfect. The checkin and checkout was also very smooth.
