Honiara Hotel

Reception were always helpful. Pool was excellent.

Catering staff were keen but very slow service. Waited an extended time for a simple sandwich.

The decor is wildly original, and we appreciated the opportunity to meet with the 82-year-old developer/owner of the property (and much of its art work), Sir Tommy Chan. The hotel is outside the center of town but it's just a short ride in a taxi, which we found easy to catch. We also appreciated the staff helping us to organize activities during two of our days in town. Although the hotel is somewhat faded, our room was impeccably clean.

The property is really large, and the maintenance could be better. It feels like the hotel once saw more prosperous days. Breakfast was not included as an option, but the pricing was reasonable.

Food was really good (dinner) - I recommend the toss fried crab! The continental breakfast was simple - tropical fruit was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful - go out of their way for you. My room (821) was clean and a good size - the bed was comfortable too and loved the view of the ocean from the balcony. The hotel felt safe.

Noise until late in the night most nights until 10pm and 11pm on Saturdays. Pool was open to the public which was a good thing for locals but not for international visitors. It also didn't look very clean so we never swam in it. The hotel was also as a bit of a distance to restaurants (mostly other hotels) so we taxied everywhere (taxis are cheap though). Didn't feel safe walking along the streets - they were hot anyway.

Nice room, cosy balcony, lovely pathways, beautiful shop by the reception.

No view, poor WiFi, no remote for the TV.

wifi was free and worked well. housekeeping staff were so diligent.

if you have mobility issues, this is not the best hotel for you - there are a lot of steps!

It’s quirky and fun

The noise from surrounding areas- not the hotels fault but blasting mystic until 11pm, or sometimes until 3am. Then would start up again at 6am from the property next door. Pool is open to the public also which on occasion meant a lot of youth hanging around the area which wasn’t overly relaxing

Too many stairs and not in the city proper
