Beautiful and authentic ryokan with fantastic food, and very welcoming staff in a perfect location for exploring Kyoto

Great Ryokan. Fantastic service, great room, and excellent food. In great condition and still felt very genuine and cosy.

Getting a little old for sitting on the floor when not used to it in the room. A couple of comfortable chairs (there were a couple but they were not so comfortable) in the room would have helped. But this is a small thing that did not take away from the experience.

Very kind staff and centrally located. Felt like a very traditional Japanese inn.

Breakfast was very nice.

Room was dark. Small bathroom. Very dark.

A unique experience in heart of Kyoto.

It was a ryokan, so as expected....very clean, peaceful, great service. Even though we were in a busy location, the inn was very peaceful...wonderful to step into after a busy day sightseeing. Location was excellent, walkable to almost everything we wanted to see and do. The staff went above and beyond to help with anything we needed. The breakfasts were amazing.

I found that multiple days in a ryokan (seating limited and on the floor) was a bit difficult on my knees and back, but that is typical for traditional Japanese lodging.
