The young girl who welcomed us at the door was pleasant. We had trouble communicating in English, but enough to get by.

I was not happy with the communication between the host and myself. I kept sending messages and submitting my passport documents with no response from them. The access code on booking.com was not successful numerous times for me to review the booking. The host did not respond in a timely manner to provide me with the door access code to the property which left me kind of anxious. The Uber driver had a very difficult time also locating the property to drop us off. Not very well marked. Sadly we entered a very dark and damp house that is being rented out by the room. It is very tight quarters. We were shown our room for two which was very small double bed a table and a chair. Once we put our suitcases in, there was little room to move about. The bathroom had no toilet paper and only one towel, one glass and one tea bag for two guests. The toilet had not been cleaned, leaving unine under the seat and numerous hairs. The curtain rod directly above the bed was hanging by one nail, had I touched the curtains, I was afraid to have it fall. The remote control itself was very dirty with hair on it. The pillows on the bed were also soiled. We sat down for awhile, one on a chair, the other on the bed, figuring we could stay for one night, but within 30 min, my breathing and allergies acted up in the damp main floor room. There was a lady out in the hall doing laundry whom I tried to communicate with but she did not speak English. She took to shouting up the stairwell in Portuguese to the young gal. It was very loud in the room, you can hear everything going on outside the room. I did send an email message to the host about our concerns, but after 2 hours, we had already left and ubered it to a hotel near the airport paying for that on top of the Airside Palace ( it not 2.5k from the airport, nor is it a palace. So very disappointing for my first booking.com experience. Booking.com has also not replied to my communications or request for a refund.
