The staff was helpful and gave a tea immediately when we arrived. Located 5 min walking to the food market. Rooms really spacious, I was not expecting the beds to be motorised and adjustable.

Our stay at Matsui Honkan in Kyoto was wonderful and one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was warm and everything was thoughtfully prepared. The room was very spacious, especially compared to many other places in Japan, and beautifully designed with a traditional atmosphere. It truly felt like an authentic ryokan experience. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast, and they were exceptional—beautifully presented, varied, and absolutely delicious. It was a great way to experience traditional Japanese cuisine. The onsen baths were also very nice, peaceful, and relaxing after a day in Kyoto, although the room was a little too hot for our preference. Overall, Matsui Honkan offered the perfect mix of comfort, tradition, and excellent service. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto.
