Ukulhas Sands

We loved absolutely everything about our stay in Ukulhas Sands! Starting from the room itself that was in a great and very new condition, through amazing breakfast served everyday up to the trips that our host Saeed recommended or helped us in organising. We felt very welcomed and taken good care of and Saeed made sure that we have everything we needed to have good time while in Ukulhas. He was always available for us for any questions and recommendations. Helped us also in organising the speedboat on the arrival and return. Delicious breakfast, speedy WiFi, snorkelling equipment and unlimited drinking water, coffee and tea were also a few other things worth mentioning. Thank you so much for hosting us, we truly loved our stay, we hope to return one day and would recommend it to anyone visiting Ukulhas! ☺️

Great breakfast system with easy pre-order via app, daily room cleaning, and beach towels available (changed every three days or on request). Comfortable room with good air conditioning and modern features.

Some noise from island construction in mornings and evenings (not the property’s fault). A drying rack or space for clothes/towels in the room would be useful.

I had the room with an attached kitchen. It was nice having a kitchen. Generally things were clean and worked well. The nearby dock area was nice to walk at night and see the whale sharks.

The kitchen room was on the first floor and there is no air flow, the only window opens onto a public area (breakfast area) so you keep that closed and shade drawn at all times. This is the disadvantage with first floor rooms that feel almost like a basement, damp and no view and no air flow. For all that, the price charged is very high based on the value of the product. The island itself is in an aggressive phase of development going from a sleepy tiny island to a scam oriented beach condo scheme as happens to so many areas near a beach worldwide. So there are moments of charming local culture and moments of being scammed by slick hustlers. The other rooms in the building seem to have views and windows and some air flow so I think that's why the high rating on booking.com, but if you want the kitchen be advised. It was a good kitchen, clean and big, but there were no utensils at all and we had to ask one by one to get things like spoons or bowls. Eventually we had a complete set of utensils and tools but it's a ridiculous to make guests ask for basic kitchen equipment. The fish are nice though. But for the price there are probably better options.

Staff are very attentive. The rooms are equipped and designed very well. Rooms are of a high standard and all details are thought about. Rooms are very clean and cleaned each day. Made to feel very welcome. Breakfast is good with 5 different options. The pancakes are a must, best we have had in a very long time. Nothing is too much trouble. Good communication from the time of booking. Really comfortable bed and Brilliant shower pressure.. They booked the speedboat transfer for us and the instructions of where to go were very clear. They were waiting at the jetty to collect us. A great stay and would go back in a heartbeat and definitely recommend this lovely guesthouse.
