Emerald Gecko

The staff was outstanding. The sweetest hospitality. The whole experience was so unique and special. You go without some modern comforts but it certainly makes you appreciate the little things in life and enjoy a different way of life. It was a beautiful place with beautiful people and delicious food.

Some beach trash directly in front of Emerald Gecko could use some attention, but perhaps it reappears with the tides. A small daily effort could make a difference.

They have old and wobbly bungalows with holes in the walls and floor. The structure is eaten by termites, I was afraid that it would collapse. The man who checked me in didn't even try to be polite (others we're nice). No WiFi in bungalow only in shared area. Not worth even half of this money. I regretted I booked that

Beautiful natural setting. Well spaced out rustic huts. Restaurant and chill out area... Right on the beach... Swimming at high tide.. Fantastic beaches and bars nearby..

The only redeeming feature was the small beach that they were sweeping when we arrived.

Everything else. the whole place was very grubby, rubbish laying around. The rooms were far more basic than inferred in the photos and descriptions, tarpaulin covering most of the roofs. Inside the bed sheets were dirty, mozzi nets full of holes. The reception area was filthy and full of mozzis. Not welcoming at all by the area or the receptionist. I have no problem with basic, I imagined this was going to be a rustic, fun, down to earth experience but it felt so wrong and dirty I couldn’t bare to stay here so we found alternative. Yes it was not expensive but even the price for what was there was way too much. The lights and path on the photos are from the next door resort.

The huts are very basic and located near the sea, but despite the description on Booking mentioning a sea view, the windows barely open, and the huts are positioned internally. The price is highly disproportionate for what you get (just a bed and a bathroom with a cold shower, all for $50 USD per night). The lighting is extremely dim, making it hard to see anything inside, and breakfast is not included. The staff is not particularly friendly either.
