Thilina Hotel

Very friendly staff. Enjoyed a good location. Very clean except for the shower sealing. Good wifi.

Mould in shower. Shower leaked from below the module wetting the bathroom. Some road noise. Noise outside the room from 0530 each of the two nights we stayed. Music from 0630. Hard surfaces outside the room made it noisy inside the room.. Furniture being moved in the breakfast room above was noisy inside the room.

The rooms were big and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was also well maintained with access to hot water. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided us with extra things when asked like electric kettle, adapters, plates, cups etc. They also serve morning tea free of cost! The view is nice and the hotel is a 15 minutes walk to Lake Gregory and Victoria Gardens. The Wi-Fi worked well and the TV had many channels including English and Hindi programs.

The charging point in our room was far from the bed so it was a bit inconvenient. The access to the hotel is only by stairs (wasn’t a problem for me just a disclaimer)

The host was very nice and helpful. They greet you with a yummy hot tea. The room had a beautiful view from large windows, and a balcony. There is also a great view from upstairs if you want to have breakfast.

I will start by saying that this is a decent value for the money. Nuwara Eliya seems to be more expensive for lodging than other areas in Sri Lanka. So your money doesn’t go as far. That said, the room was pretty basic. There was a weird smell coming from the bathroom. The bathroom in general was not great, a bit dingy. The hot water in the shower only lasted a few minutes. Also, there is no mosquito net so we got bit at night. Thus, we didn’t sleep great. The bed was not very comfortable. Actually shorter than a standard bed, would be a problem if you are tall. There were no chairs or a table on the balcony, so while it was pretty it wasn’t very usable. Finally, one night the people who live downstairs stayed up playing guitar and singing loudly until 1am. I like that they were having a good time playing music, but there should be an agreement with the hotel to have quiet hours after 10pm.

Geyser for hot water isn't big enough therefore hot water didn't last long

Check in was confusing, beds were not really clean.

It was very clean and the staff were very nice and accommodating.

It was quite chilly at night.
