Delmar Hostal

The owner Delmar and the girl working there were amazing <3 The place is really basic, but the sweetness of these 2 made up for it :) Also the breakfast is so good! They prepared beans, eggs, avocado,... really good! Location is great, very central! Delmar organized a Kajak for me to be on the lagune for sunrise! (it was a little scary doing it alone, because the waves were very big and it was windy, and it's dark when you start ofc - so I don't know if I would recommend doing it all alone, as I did) But the transport and organisation with the Kajak was great!

The room is okay, very basic. What I didn't like was, that the walls are not built all the way up, so if there is light on in the common area, it's very bright in the room as well. The rest of the hostel is very nice - shower with open sky :)

Room is very hot even with the fan (very loud). There aren’t many rooms so I wouldn’t describe it as a sociable hostel but the owner is really nice!

I loved to stay here. You pay a hostel price but get your own little room, with fan and mosquito net. I liked the outdoor showers and the breakfast in the morning, freshly prepared by friendly Delmar. Also Zulie who was there during the day was very friendly and helpful. The lagoon with the huge pier is just around the corner, also there are some cheap alternative food places which are open late, and they are very cheap. If I am back in Bacalar I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

The location is fantastic and the atmosphere is really nice. The host was very hospitable, flexible and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious! The hostel has a kitchen and a fridge. The bathroom may need a bit of cleaning though, as it's a bit shabby. It also gets really hot inside the room but the fan helps.

The breakfast was probably the best thing about the hostel and the owner. Friendly guy

A curtain protecting you from the outside, it rained when I stayed there and the whole room was leaking from the ceiling to the door, drenching my clothes.

Probably one of the cheapest options in Bacalar if you don't want a dormitory bed. Good location close to the laguna and the central plaza. Very nice host and very good included breakfast. What they call a "tent" on Booking.com is actually more like a shed. It has a normal bed and a fan, and you can lock it.

It is pretty basic. The window has no glass, only netting (with holes in it). But there's a mosquito net for the bed to somewhat make up for it.
