Hotel Athgira

Great value for money. All staff are really lovely, kind and helpful. Clean, comfortable and really spacious.

Everything including the location food and the staff and the room was really good .

Everything. Couldn't fault anything. Great location right opposite the Elephant Orphanage. Staff were amazing. Food was excellent. Room was of a high standard with pool view. They list themselves as budget but this hotel exceeded all expectations. They arranged our safari to Udawalawe national Park at a good price. They also arranged our. transport on departure. Would highly recommend this hotel.

So, I've stayed at Hotel Athgira 5 times before. Never had a single complaint. This time the pool was being renovated so was moved to Athgira River camping.. Hotel Athgira is wonderful, I would have no hesitation going back .. but Athgira River Camping .. W O W! I usually stay for one night in Udawalawe to go on safari and visit the transit home .. I genuinely could have stayed at River Camping for a month. The whole team are warm and welcoming. The surroundings are idyllic .. quite literally the perfect place to forget your worries.. on arrival I took a video for my folks at home and a total stranger, on a sunbed around the pool (there are 2 of them!) .. just looked up and said to me "welcome to paradise" .. I can't say any more than that!

Great location , very clean, amazing staff

Staff were very kind and willing to help, with a smile. The pool was a good size and set in a garden area next to the room The food was plentiful and varied for our half board selection The elephant orphanage is across the road and safari’s easy to arrange via the hotel

Some training on cooking bacon, and a coffee machine would help.
