Mabamba Lodge

I like the multiple activities, such as a bird-watching tour on a boat and cycling. The compound is quite big, so you can walk around.

Not much internet (WiFi or cellular) is available. Not at all in the lodge. The options for drinks are pretty limited. Basic ones are not always available.

The food was good. However, that evening I got seriously ill with a bacterial intestinal infection, and had to medically treat myself when I arrived in Nairobi Kenya.

You need a backup system for hot water. Traveling all evening, then arriving after a long drive, being tired, and wanting to take a hot bath, I found myself feeling ill, shortly after eating a well prepared curried dish, with no hot water to bath in. Based on the price of your facility was not acceptable. The hotel attendant informed me that the hot water was solar powered, and it had been cloudy all day. They were accomodating, and boiled water and poured it in the bath tub, and had a partially full hot bath. Being informed that the road is a 2 1/2 drive ahead of time, and ferry was free, and is a shorter distance would also have been nice to know ahead of time.

Great place, staff is extremely welcoming, they did everything to make us feel at home, we had a great time here! The shoebill tours is recommended, the swamps are absolutely beautiful!

The staff was amazing. They provided a great romantic experience for my girlfriend and myself. Beautiful setting on the shore of Lake Victoria

The main highlights for us were 1. Prime location to do a shoebill tour, leaves from the lodges waterfront. We did see one up close, and the guide was fantastic! 2. The food is seriously top notch, we have been traveling for 4 months throughout Africa and that will likely go down as our favorite meals. Staff were all very friendly and helpful

The road in is pretty bad if driving, and overall we thought it was pretty overpriced for what it was.

The hospitality, the fresh food, the beautiful place. Josephine is a great chef with such a warm personality. Juliette and Joanne are hard-working ladies who were always there to help. Kenneth is an excellent manager who is very knowledgeable about the community.

Bedroom. Cafe. Staff. Services. Friendly. Environment. Woowww everything was great and really awesome. We spent 2 nights. It was really awesome. I’m coming from asia to mabamba, uganda and really worth it

The hotel is set in beautiful gardens close to the lake. The dawn chorus was magnificent. The staff were amazing and incredible helpful. The food was absolutely top notch. Well prepared and presented. Also when we decided to leave early the owner was so helpful and found us another hotel in Kampala.

The lake flies were unfortunately active due to all the rain and a thunderstorm took out the power which meant no Internet. Also we really needed a shower rather than bath.
