Osakaya Ryokan

Breakfast/Dinner kaiseki were definitely filling and was very Japanese. It was a different experience thag I wanted to try and I was very happy to have had an onsen egg. The room was nice as was the onsen. I always appreciate the outdoor baths.

There wasn't a lot of direction on the facilities in our room or where we were to wear slippers/remove shoes. I only knew because I stayed at a ryokan elsewhere before this trip. My accompanying friend had never stayed at a ryokan so some guidance would have been nice.

The location is very good, easy access to most places of interest by walk. The room is spacious and clean, the staffs are very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommend to stay here!

There is no WIFI in the room.

The location was breathtaking, my friends and I all greatly enjoyed it. Specifically as the snow began falling Kusatsu became breathtaking

Spacious, nice little onsite onsen, comfy futons, great location.

Dinner was very cool, multiple courses that were all tasty. The room was also very nice with a clean and comprehensive bathroom. The private onsen was incredibly cheap as well and you get it for 40 minutes which is plenty of time. However if you want more than that you can always go to the one public to the rest of the ryokan.

This didnt bother me too much but could bother someone else. The place smells unavoidably a bit like sulphur due purely to the fact that the whole town does seeing as it is a hot spring town. If you dont like that then kusatsu as a whole might not be your style.

Staff are friendly and courteous, though most of them speak no English. Meals are traditional but lacking variety and of mediocre quality.

Hotel is dated. The public bathroom (onsen) can be cleaner, the outdoor bath has mold on the ceiling.
