This room was spacious and clean, and the property was beautiful and conveniently close to Esperanza and to different beaches and bioluminescence tours. We loved our stay; we got to use the pool, make our own drinks, and we loved the breakfast. The hotel gave great recommendations for car rental companies and tours, and even helped us contact the car rental company. We will absolutely stay here again when we visit Vieques.

Views and breakfast

Charming property in a beautiful area of Vieques. Twenty minutes by car to Isabel Segundo where the ferry docks and five minutes to the cute oceanside town of Esperanza. Staff is welcoming and friendly. The property is small but the rooms are spacious. It has a pool, rents/loans beach chairs, umbrellas and more. They have an honor bar, an honor sundries shoppe, and a library. The breakfast is made to order and delicious with a wide selection of fruit juices, etc. They really go out of their way for their guests. We had to leave at 7:45am on our departure day and they offered our breakfast at 7:15am that day (usually starts at 8am) so we wouldn't miss it. You can order a packed lunch for a day at the beach and they have it ready for you that morning. So convenient to have that option since the beaches there are very remote and groceries are few and far between.

Mosquitos in the room! Must be a common issue since they provide a can of bug killer in the room. Probably unavoidable in this climate. We just kept the ceiling fan on, but I definitely got a few bites and we killed about seven of them. There is no TV in the room, which is not an issue on lovely Vieques unless it is raining ALL DAY as it was for one of our days there. Wi-fi does not reach the rooms consistently (only officially offered in public areas) so streaming a movie on a tablet/phone was not an option.

We had a great experience at Hacienda Tamarindo, though it was only for two nights. Just outside of the main strip of Esperanza, personally I preferred this location. We didn't rent a car or golf cart, the taxis were just fine, as we are early birds. But we did walk back one night from town, maybe 20 min, wasn't too bad. The room was perfect for the two days we spent, it had a view of the ocean, just outside was a mini pool table and the main lobby. Had a nice vista we hung out on and played dominoes at, besides the game room. Which too had drinks, on a honesty program. You sign out what you take/make, I thought it was super convenient, while we never did. We did have breakfast once at the hotel at additional cost which was great, nothing too much but just enough to kick off our day. The pool is open all day which is great, it was quiet and super relaxing with a great view. When we come back to Vieques, our stays will be at Hacienda Tamarindo from here on out.

No real complaints. There was security in the evenings when we arrived late, staff was always present sometimes hard to find if anything. But there was a number to dial if you had any issues.
