Karsten was an amazing host. He cooked the best dinner and the breakfast was hearty and delicious!

The cottages had enough space and amenities. It was an experience worth having as you were away from the hustle of the urban space. You felt more connected to the natural world in the desert with little technology and the basics. What was wonderful was that the setup is off grid yet is self sufficient and produces much more energy than it consumes.

Quietness of the starry night is magnificent. The host is very friendly, accommodating and informative. The food was well prepared and presented. Keep in mind that you have to pre-order, since there are no shops nearby. We like his project of a field kitchen that he is busy with, so that self catering will be possible. . Due to the remoteness, the cottages are solar powered. It is sufficient for lights and charging phones, but don't expect a fridge or aircon. Water can be boiled on a gas flame. Tap water is very good. Better than most bottled water! Solar geysers provide for sufficient hot to very hot water in the showers. WiFi is only available at the main house. Good for digital detoxing!

The visit was amazing. Karsten went beyond what was needed to ensure that we were well looked after including creating an amazing no fat dinner for myself to accommodate my dietary needs for medical reasons. He ensured the whole group, no matter the language, was included in the conversations over dinner.... Fantastic! Amazing! Unforgettable!

Although it is a rest camp, we would expect to have plates as there are braai facilities
