Talkeetna Roadhouse

It was a charming old roadhouse that delivered the feel of travel in past years, but a bit more comfortable! It was located in the heart of old-town Talkeetna. We had a room with a private bathroom. The bathroom was not attached to the room but next door with a sign saying it was for the exclusive use of our room. The hosts provided change & soaps for the washer/dryer which was added to your bill if used but was just a few dollars. The attached bakery was great and we enjoyed several pastries from there. We did not have the breakfast which looked fabulous and was definitely more than we could have eaten. We did not have a chance to meet the hosts but they kept in touch with us during our stay via text messages.

We should have stayed another day or so to enjoy doing more things in the area.

Noisey fellow guests

We had the entire 2nd floor (2 bedrooms and a futon room plus bathroom). It worked well and really worked out as the bakery was closed down on the day we were there. The biggest piece we were not expecting was the true separate rooms and bathroom along with complete open access from the main floor. With our 3 younger kids this made us a little nervous, but we locked the doors and they kids did well in their spaces. Everything was nicely laid out and many extra touches made it feel like we were staying with a friend which was great.

Best location right on the main street here in Talkeetna. Very easy walk everywhere. Was clean and comfortable and has a very unique old school feel from another era but in a good way.

Being next to the main road was just a little noise but not significant with ear plugs at night. Wasn’t a major problem
