Large and spacious stay. For a longer stay the access to a washing machine and tumble dryer was a big plus.

Unfortunately we were not prepared to stay. The single room looks directly into the neighbors kitchen and by implication there is zero privacy. The room was however clean. The advertised braai come outside fire pit area was a mess. The host was amicable and understanding that we were not comfortable with the space and agreed to cancel our 3 night booking without any fees.

My wife and I travel both locally and internationally for the past 30+ years. We are not fussy people but this was the worst ever. When we arrived, the person did not even know that we were supposed to check-in. The place was filthy starting from the deck chairs outside which we didn't even want to sit on. On the inside some of the plugs did not work. The shelves were filthy and full of dust. The view is into the neighbour's basement which is 5 metres away. The soup holder in the shower is broken. There is no soap and no shampoo which are standard nowadays even in the cheapest of places. The toilet seat is too small for the toilet. There is a large piece of painted wood over a door separating the room from the main house. Only after we arrived, the helper started sweeping the driveway which was covered in dust and leaves. We checked-out 30 minutes later and enquired about a refund. We were told there will be no refund as others could have booked. We didn't even care and just wanted to get out. That is how bad it was. Somehow we did not check the reviews this time as we were in a rush and did not expect a place in Wilderness to be this bad. Tip to self: Check the reviews very carefully before booking and book for one night only if unsure.

The washer and dryer was nice to have after spending a few days on the road we could do our laundry. The property is beautiful and spacious enough for a family of 5. The host was very helpful. There was a problem with the sleeper couch and he had it fixed immediately.

There was unfortunately a dampness and mould problem in the 6 sleeper. The smell became a bit unbearable after the second night and we found it hard to breathe. The host is aware of the problem and has installed an air purifier in the lounge but the root problem needs to be adressed. Not good if you have allergies.
