Sonder The Plymouth

The water was cold for both days that we were there due to some kind of water issue near the building. Also, there was a constant dripping from one of the bathrooms. Even though I called a week earlier to arrange for a pack and play for our infant son, there was not a pack and play there when we arrived at night, so I did not get much sleep because I was constantly putting the baby back in the middle of the bed. This was disappointing because we had gone with friends who came to visit Chicago from Brazil and we were not happy about the accommodations.

The location is excellent, about 1 mile from the river and downtown area. The building is next to the Blue Line train stop. It is super convenient to transfer to and from the airport. The apartment is good for a small family of 4-6. There was a few issues after we checked in, but they were quickly resolved by Sonder. We appreciate their prompt response and customer service. We had a happy and comfortable stay here.

Beds were super comfy and apartment was well stocked and clean. The location was perfect to jump on a train or bus to go anywhere in the city. The only negative is the HVAC units work with building temp control and not the actual thermostat on the walls. So if it's not cold enough outside, heater won't turn on. However, I'm not taking away a star because they quickly offered space heaters and fans when I reached out. Great customer service!

Profoundly disappointed with my recent stay at this property. From the moment we arrived, the experience was far from satisfactory. Upon entering the building, we were approached by the fire department with questions about our stay and the gas stove in the property. This was extremely unnerving. Additionally, there were several other individuals with clipboards in the lobby and elevator area, which added to our discomfort. When we reached the apartment, the door appeared to have been previously busted open or damaged during the lock fitting. The apartment itself seemed hastily assembled with fixtures that looked like they were sourced from a junkyard. It felt like a temporary setup, not a permanent residence. While the bedding and towels were clean, the rest of the apartment was not up to standard. The claim of a two-bedroom apartment was misleading, as one of the rooms did not have a full wall, failing to provide true separation from the kitchen/living area. The sofa was infested with bugs, and I was bitten during my stay. The cooker hood was covered in aged grease, and some of the electrical outlets were not securely fixed to the wall. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the Sonder experience.

The apartment was perfect. Location made everything walkable. Super clean. Bright rooms. Bed was super comfy. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I loved it and would stay here again on my next trip to Chicago

Poor layout. Not very comfortable. Very cramped bedrooms, prioritising too much cupboard space at the cost of decent living space. Needs comfortable lounge area that caters for 4 people, nowhere to relax and be comfortable.

We would absolutely consider a Sonder apartment again for a trip - it was wonderful to have space for everyone to stretch out a bit and a place where we could eat-in after each day full of museums and 7+miles of city walking! Having a bathroom for each teen plus one for the parents was wonderful. The beds are not the most comfortable - memory foam isn't my favorite mattress material. Other than some crumbs on the floor when we arrived in one bedroom, the unit was clean and the access was easy. Plus, a safe location and fairly sound-proofed, Definitely a repeat option for our next trip to Chicago. I'll have to see what they have elsewhere!
