Artist Residence Brighton

We enjoyed another great weekend at the Artist Residence in Brighton. There was a warm welcome from the team when we arrived and we had a very comfortable stay in our lovely room..The roll top bath was bliss! We also enjoyed a tasty breakfast each morning - perfect while overlooking the sea. It’s such a relaxed & lovely vibe here in a good location. Cant wait for our next visit!

Fantastic hotel with lots of character. Loved the staff (the home made honeycomb that accompanied my cocktail was amazing) the breakfast was delicious, the room was so sweet and tiny but very well appointed and well designed. The bed was comfortable and the view was fantastic

If only there was an Artists Residence in every town in the UK. Full marks to Dan and the team who looked after me as it I were at home on a damp flying visit to rainy Brighton. 'Come for the comfy, cozy rooms. Stay for the all-too drinkable Orange Blossom Old Fashioned.'

Second time staying at an Artist Residence and enjoyed it as much as the first. All the comforts there, but great to feel so welcomed and looked after by the people working their during our overnight stay

Breakfast was sublime; Bedroom was clean and modern; Lovely attention to detail. Cute and quirky.

Only shutters so no curtains or black out blinds so the morning sun woke us up early!

Whilst a great location looking straight over the sea & easy walking distance to shops etc. and the staff were friendly, we were very underwhelmed by the triple room. It was in the basement at the rear of the building, very little natural light and only a filament bulb as the main lighting (not spotlights as picture showed) so it felt very dark and claustraphobic It didnt help that the room was baking hot through the night and despite having the small portable fan on (no air con) it just didnt help as the window/door just opened up on to a damp covered over small patio area whch didnt have much air flow. The extra bed area in the cabin section had no room to put anything down and no space to get dressed. The bathroom was tiny, water pressure on taps incredibly low, skirting board missing and quite a lot of black mold on the tiles and damaged floor. No hooks to hang coats, just a small wardrobe with mini fridge inside, coffee machine didn't work properly, chip in mug,, no remote for tv in small bedroom area but you couldnt really have both tvs on anyway as they just interfered with each other. The room was clean but felt it needed some maintenance, none of the plants shown in the pics are in the patio area anymore. The room is down a corridor past the bar toilets and ping pong room, it isn't soundproof so may struggle if a light sleeper. Overall it was just ok but to be honest I was expecting more of a trendy plush hotel feel than pub feel, maybe it was just our room. I really think the hotel should mention the only natural light is a frosted sky light which is coming from the covered over patio, its considerably darker than the pictures show and made getting ready very hard work, 1 night was enough for us and I would never have booked if I'd known the room had no view at all.

Charming and atmospheric - very homely

Nothing really - the bed needed a repair to the metal structure it was taped up which was a shame and not what you'd expect - so I would think that should be repaired - soldered especially when you're paying that sort of money for a nights stay and also an extra plug socket for the kettle would have been good. But again didn't detract but the devil is in the details!
