Easy check-in, no hassle Quiet environment Everything was laid out and ready for you

The neighborhood looks a bit scary, but it's alright. That wasn't my focus. I was only there to sleep

Wanderstay is nice hostel to stay very clean n secure but you need to know few things before you go ...they like only booking from there website n fully paid in advance...there is no receptionist..I booked through hostel world.com n paid deposit n had a big hassle checking in ..plus I was international traveller..my phone were out of service due to international..I sent few emails in advance my arrival timings etc ... narrowed phones n call them but they wouldn't wait for you to arrive even 6 pm time ..after a long hassle a neighborhood call manager n I finally got in a paid the rest of my booking amount...there is no restaurant or anything there only gas station store near by ...rest all is good ...I like staying there ..but book n pay in advance n get the door code before u go n you will be fine .

I’ve stayed at Wanderstay Hostel in Houston a few times now, and even stayed at their hotel before. The location is super convenient whenever I travel to Houston for work. It’s a safe environment, and both the guests and staff are always so kind and welcoming. The beds are comfortable, the showers have great water pressure, and overall it’s always a good time there. I was able to extend my stay through the booking app with no issues, which made things really easy. I also appreciated being able to cook a meal and pick up a few groceries. the kitchen setup is very handy. During my stay, I noticed small improvements like new shower curtains, more tea options, and a coffee pot, which were all nice touches. The only thing I’d recommend is a deeper cleaning from top to bottom every so often, especially the oven area. It seems like some guests don’t always clean up as well as they should, so a regular deep clean would really make a difference. All in all, Wanderstay remains one of my go to spots in Houston!! great vibes, friendly people, and everything you need for a comfortable stay.

"Don't check in near the time the office closes (9pm or earlier)... otherwise, it's great."

Everything was clean. I felt safe inside a not-great neighborhood. The bunk bed was extra-long and comfy. The water was hot and the bathrooms were clean,

I missed what makes hostels best: Having breakfast together and meeting other travelers. Also, the two employees I talked with at check-in (just before and after the office closed) were unhelpful at best and almost rude at worst; I felt stranded until I finally figured things out myself an hour later.

"Very nice, but bad check-in"

8.0

Everything is as great here as other reviews say... except my check-in. I'd driven 14 hours across Texas and arrived, exhausted, at 3 minutes before 9pm closing to find... the hostel was in the middle of a construction zone, and the person who answered the phone said she knew nothing about anywhere except the block in front of the hostel. The "emergency" person who answered after 9pm (because I couldn't get into parking) said she couldn't find me on the guest list so could do nothing except send a message that would probably be answered the next day. I was left alone in a sketchy part of a big city. After an hour, and taking to the few other guests I saw, I figured it out on my own. This was no way to welcome a traveler to the hostel and Houston! (At least everything else was wonderful.)
