the location was nice being near the train station but with our room being on the side of the railways, you could hear the trains moving from start to finish. Also, we reserved a twin room and our room and bathroom was very different (smaller) from what was shown on the reservation and the website. A little tight for 2 adults and a kid. Won't be staying there again.

1. The staff asked my mother to leave an open room in the lobby that had a sign posted "welcome please come in," and they did not apologize. My mother was reading the newspaper quietly in clearly a"reading room." 2. When we were seated for breakfast, we were sat at the bar with other people's dirty dishes, and everyone else was sat at a nice table. We were not greeted. We were the only foreigners there and felt that it was descriminatory. 3. I asked the front desk to call me a taxi and showed them where I was going. The taxi arrived, I got in, and then the taxi driver spoke to me in Japanese clearly asking where to go and the hotel had not told the driver anything. 4. The main lobby's couch by the entrance is stained everywhere and looks pretty gross, and they have a smoking room inside the main lobby that leaks smoke so that half of the lobby reaks of cigarettes. 5. I booked a room with expedia, with a special request for an extra twin bed. The front desk said they had no twin bed, or any extra beds or rollaways. Because the double bed was crammed in the corner of the room, I slept on the floor while my mom slept in the bed. The floor was not clean and I was lying next to big piles of dust on the walls.

"Poor customer service"

4.0

Our room was not what we booked (*2 beds). We were given a room with a small double bed . Desk agent unfriendly and not willing to resolve the problem. We are staying 2 nights. The lobby reading room sign reads “open welcome” but I was asked to leave while quietly reading a newspaper. We were seated for breakfast at the bar after the couple behind us was seated at a table. We are not rude Americans, loud nor Ill-dressed or otherwise considered culturally offensive, yet we are being treated very poorly. This is not how we have been treated in other hotels in Japan, including Tokyo. I do not recommend this hotel to foreigners.

Nice clean and bright room, friendly staff, walking distance from the train station. A perfect spot to spend a day or two exploring Yokahama. Great value for money.

"Great breakfast"

8.0

I booked in knowing it was a small room so I wasn’t surprised when it was. It would be a challenge to have two people in here! Perfect for one though...... The staff were very friendly and kind. They offered me a towel on arrival as I was wet and bedraggled! I really enjoyed the breakfast. A lot of variety that catered for all my (and others) tastes. The pastries were delicious. I was attempting to be environmental so I didn’t get my room cleaned however they left a goodie bag on my door handle of things I might need. This was a lovely surprise. A few things need better cleaning - such as there was fluff on the wall underneath one of the spotlights. You probably only see it at night. Loved that the window opens a little to let some fresh, cool air in. Also enjoyed the communal lounge area. It had a lovely vibe and it was nice to sit there and relax.

"A dirty disappointment "

2.0

We needed somewhere to stay for one night in Yokohama following the Rugby World Cup final, having stayed elsewhere in Yokohama the week previous for another game & various others in Japan over a two week period this hotel in comparison was a very bad choice. We expected a basic but clean room to stay the night. Due to attending the game and commuting back we weren’t able to check in until after 11pm. Having left our luggage at reception earlier that day it was already waiting in our room for us following check in. At first glance the room looked ok however when I looked at the floor the carpet was covered in a trail of grim brown stains from the bed area leading over to the bathroom. There were also small smears of dried blood on the back of the bathroom door near the handle and also on the door frame of the outer door. Disgusting & unacceptable. The smell in the room wasn’t pleasant either. Due to how late it was, how tired we were and because the reception staff were pleasant we didn’t bother them &!we didn’t complain, we ended up uncomfortably sticking it out for the night & leaving first thing the next morning. I could not have stayed there another night. The reception area in comparison is lovely & modern, very deceiving.

"Overrated. Beware of surcharges!"

2.0

The room was dated and dirty by Japanese standards, and the bathroom smelled pretty awful when we checked in- but it was already 11pm and we had just gotten off the plane and hence too tired to make a fuss about it. We checked out at 10:45am (the check-out time we were given was 10am), and we were told we had to pay 1000JPY for late check out. We were never informed about this either at the online confirmation OR at check-in, and honestly felt pretty cheated. Another party checking out with us at the same time were told about the same surcharge and were appalled for the same reasons. If a hotel is going to be so rigid about the check-out time and is implementing a surcharge, they should really be informing guests and highlighting this policy at both booking confirmation and check in. All in all, a disappointing first night in Japan. Ruined the start of our trip.

"Left after 1st night"

4.0

Hotel lobby very nice. Rooms are the typical small side and tired looking. Breakfast certainly creative, all with a bit of a hipster flair. What made us leave after the 1st night and fore-fitting the cost for the second night was the terrible smell of mold in the room. We tried air freshener and aroma therapy oils, but nothing covered that smell. My husband and I both woke up after a restless night feeling unwell and moved to a different hotel. Contributing causes probably were the uncomfortable, small bed, and the poorly working air conditioning.
