Newton House

Room 9 is a large room that was very comfortable with a good sized en-suite. Sachets of tea, coffee and milk were topped up daily. The breakfast options were good. We had the full English that was very well presented and cooked. The host and his daughters were pleasant and chatty. Free parking and a local bus service stopping about 100yds from the hotel provided easy access to the town centre, Paignton and Brixham. Our stay was very enjoyable.

Nothing about the hotel just that the July weather was a little disappointing.

Had parking & the room was nice & comfortable

Where do I start, to start with we were greated quite nicely! On the evening we was playing music in the room, not realising it might have been quite loud and past the curfew. The owner knocked on the door & was extremely rude, asked us how old we was after answering 26 he proceeded to say this is exactly why we don't have people your age staying here and that if we was to make any more noise he would kick us out. Now for a 1st warning I thought this was very extreme and there is a way to talk to people and that was not it! We was very apologetic not that this mattered thou! The next issue we had was they was coming in and out of our room whilst we wasnt in, leaving us passive aggressive notes and turning off the lights. Twice we knew off that they came in. Made us feel quite uncomfortable knowing they were coming in and out whilst we was out! Then on the day of check out they knock on the door 20 minutes before check out time. The daughter rudely tells us check out is at 10 and that if we was not to leave on time they would charge us for another night. Mind you we had already had a note left telling us check out was at 10 & it said in the book! There was no need for this, nore did we hear them do this with any other guest. Singling us out! Last but not least upon leaving we heard the owner talking about us to other guests as we left, very professional. Over all the family members that we did meet spoke to us in ways we did not feel was necessary or appropriate, made us feel uncomfortable & overall think the family is very ageist!! So FYI if you are under 30 don't even bother booking this house because you'll be instantly judged or not wanted 😅

The range of choice for breakfast was very good and the english breakfast was superb. The hotel is on the main bus route from both sides of the road so it is very convenient to travel to the local areas. The room was clean and well decorated and the bed was very comfortable.

Good size room , friendly hosts , no hassle on taking dogs , everything you wanted for a short break

Large room and large ensuite for a budget price. No problems what-so-ever and great welcome on arrival. 5*****
