La Casa de Carmen

The hosts, Carmen & Victor, are really nice! I don’t speak much Spanish, but they stopped to say hello whenever they saw me. The location is amazing!

I believe other reviews mentioned this but it’s quite noisy in the morning. Don’t expect to sleep much past 7 am if you’re a light sleeper. Luckily for me, I had to be up early every morning anyway. Also, as is the case with most accommodations in the area, there is no heat so pack accordingly.

Right in the middle of San Blas.

There are no instructions to enter. I stood there for 15 minutes ringing the buzzer and no one answered. The guy at the drugstore right next to it came out and told me what to do and how to get in. Got in and rang the other bell; girl came out said hello and asked what I I wanted. Told her I had a reservation. She checked, gave me a key and told me the room is on the other side. The facility is lacking. It’s mostly unkept. The rooms aren’t great and there is a resident dog who is quite noisy. Also, the rooms are freezing. I left there with a cold. They also don’t want to take cards for some reason; though the initial reservation was held with a card. I had to insist on card for them to even budge.

Quite noisy since its on the edge of Cusco during June festivals. Springs in bed are quite worn, but still had a good night's sleep

Wonderful location . Wonderful host! Big and spacious room.

No heater. The room was cold and damp. I asked for a fresh towel and did not receive. The curtains are see through and the courtyard is very noisy early mornings. The bed needs updating. I checked out early and was not offered a refund. I was told 80 soles for a knitted hat, I gave 100 soles and did not receive my change.

Carmen, the hostess. Is a warm and caring person who instantly makes you feel at home in her colorful plant-filled oasis. Anything one needs to know about the area, just ask... she is ready and able to help.

I would have liked access to a refrigerator and microwave or coffee maker, either in the room or some community location.

Decent sized and clean room. Great location close to everything.

Inconsistent hot water. Spotty WiFi.
