Katarino SPA Hotel

Location is good and convenient, just 10 mins with a car from Bansko.

Our bathroom reeked of urine, I suspect it had something to do with the drain located on the bathroom floor. I thought it was only our room but it was the same in the women's and men's bathroom down in the indoor pool area. It was actually unbearable at certain points. The carpet in the room was stained on multiple places. There is no local temperature control in the rooms so if you're too hot, you'll have to sleep with the windows open - if you're cold, good luck. The outside pool was closed for winter but the small pool that connects to the indoor one was full with leaves and dead flies. There was a weird smell going around in the spa area. The food was somewhat tasteless, the first night I got pasta bolognese and it literally tasted like watered down bland tomato and nothing else... The prices are absolutely insane, you pay for drinks during dinner and it was 8.50 BGN for a bottle of water! What hotel doesn't offer free water for the half-board guests??? They refused to serve me Aperol Spritz during dinner because "I can only order that from the lobby bar"?! I got a single Aperol Spritz at the pool bar for 26 BGN!!! The waiters were constantly trying to take our plates away and it was extremely annoying, they also try to get you to order drinks multiple times even if you don't want any (I guess because they are paid extra). There is a bowling alley available only if you pay - 30 BGN for a single game! Overall, it's ridiculously expensive for what it is and what it offers - save your money and go somewhere else. Selling diamonds in the lobby while your bathrooms smell like piss is crazy. We will not be returning.

The place is nice and has all the amenities comfort wise. Rooms are spacious, and pools and steam rooms are nice too. Lots of different massages and procedures available.

Sound proofing does not exist between rooms. You can hear absolutely everything. There was no program or any entertainment other than bowling and a pool table. The piano bar was closed, and it was kind of dead. i signed up for an expensive massage and throughout the procedure the masseuse was trying to cross sell me on another procedure which I didn't want, and I probably had to say I'm not interested seven different ways which totally kills the relaxation in the massage.

Excellent place to spend a relaxing weekend. SPA facilities were nice, especially the outdoor pools. Food was great, as well as service.
