"Reserve with caution"

4.0

The volunteer who stayed in my room was friendly. The thing I like the most was to finally leave the place.

First, I paid for a room with a bathroom but the shower in the bathroom did not work (it does not have hot water which I needed during the winter in Chile). The bathroom in the room is so small that I had to sit facing sideways. They did not have the key for the locker in my room so I had to use a locker in the other room. The bed was okay for my size but if you have a claustrophobic and you better not reserving this room cause it is so small that one person should step outside so the other could pass to the locker. They served breakfast but it was bread, jam, butter with coffee or tea and milk. So, better skip breakfast if you reserve a room here. Lastly, the volunteers (I assume) had a party on Saturday evening and they were loud until around midnight. The next day an alarm was ringing for almost 10 minutes at 7 o'clock in the morning. So, consider this if you really want to enjoy your holiday.

"Impossible to understand how this place ever made it to an 8.0 rating"

2.0

The location was alright, uphill in front of the ocean. The view from the front porch was alright (not from the room, which had no windows at all)

I was given a top coffin on a room of about 9 m² with 2 rows of 3 beds each, somehow forced into it. The bed itself had about 50 cm from mattress to ceiling, and to get in you had to enter a small hole at the top of a loose ladder, which should be easy if you're below 30 and have practiced yoga for about 10 years. Once inside, there was barely enough space to cough, certainly not enough to sit up. Coming out of the bed/coffin, you couldn't see the floor because of the stuff spread all over it, which nobody seemed to care about. The room had no windows, ensuring an overall claustrophobic experience. The bathroom was... hard to describe. The mold on the shattered shower curtains, walls and floor was something out of a Z prison movie. The water was completely cold, and I don't mean lukewarm. There really was no hot water at all. The kitchen had the basics, and one of the three days I stayed there, it was reasonably clean. The other two days, it was a disaster, which the personnel seemed rather comfortable about. The ambiance in general, felt like crashing a squatter house where you're not welcome. Volunteers and seemingly long-stayers looked pretty much at home, leaving things all around, not washing after themselves, being noisy day or night, without a care in the world. Luckily I was able to cancel an extra 4 days reservation for free, but tbh, I would have run away from there even if I had to pay the whole amount.

"Very good"

8.0

The volunteer staff, the terrace and the view from the terrace.

The three-level bunk bed, we were at the top which was a bit poky, not enough head room.

"Perfect place for party people with low standards"

7.0

The staff is really nice and helpful and you have a nice view over the city. Beds arev okay bitte yeah it’s true that you cant sitb zu up.

Perfect place for party people and people who speak spanish - sadly that’s not me 😅 One evening the whole party crew got ready in my room around 11 PM. Was not so happy about that but they left as I asked them to 😅 Not very clean, run down at all, it is hard to cook because there is not a single sharp knife in the kitchen. And the area is not safe at night, but this all the hills and Valparaiso itself are not safe so yeah.
