"Abysmal Place"

2.0

Awful, can’t even begin to say how unsafe I felt in this Hotel! Dark Corridors on arrival with Ladders left in them and Dark Derelict Rooms with Doors left open not knowing who was in them, with the limited lighting in the Corridors it was not helpful when trying to got in and enter my room! Room was abysmal, wall paper hanging off walls and paint peeling, Radiator was on all night in 20 Degree Temperatures and not able to turn it off at all, on opening the window to be able to breath all I got was the Chicken Shop smell opposite drifting in and the sound of Car Alarms and Police Siren’s, although this Hotel was near a Police Station, so can’t blame the Hotel on that one!! No wardrobe Space to Hang Clothes at all. Had to hang my Jumpsuit on the Room Door Bracket! Latch on Door was loose and didn’t seem to want to stay locked, piled my Luggage up against door just incase some one decided to try and enter, thought at least I would hear them! No TV Signal in my room, even after a long effort at trying to get it to work! Only thing going for it was my Shower, that was good! Some might say why did I not complain, but we had 3 of us stay and after arriving at nearly Midnight and us all messaging each other about how bad all our rooms were, we decided to take our chances with what we had, incase we ended up in worst and just try and survive the night! But we were out of there by 8am and can safely say we will never be going back. I seriously do not recommend, can’t even believe they are aloud to be open, pictures can be very deceiving!!!! 😡

"Avoid at all costs!!!"

2.0

My first piece of advice is please don't be deceived by the pictures on the website. Clever camera angles, and they have clearly taken pictures of probably the only handful of decent rooms this 'hotel' has to offer. I would not consider myself snobby by any means, and booked this hotel for myself and 4 colleagues purely as it was a cheaper option for a few hours stay ahead of a work conference starting at 9am the next day at a hotel in Holmes Chapel. So the objective was something cost effective but clean/comfortable etc given we were arriving at 9 to 11pm and checking out by 830am the next day. In brief: 1. The bathroom was not very clean, towels not clean (not sure if stains were fake tan or something worse) , and the decor was very poor and so so dated. They also had a blue flimsy shower curtain hanging up across the window as a 'blind'??? Really great for me when stepping out the bath given the car park could see directly in. 2. The room itself had radiators you couldn't turn off , which on a warm summers evening was unbearable and my colleague hardly slept due to this. 3. The carpet was so dirty in the room that your feet stuck to it. Absolutely gross. 4. We weren't sure if the doors were even locked where the catches didn't seem to work properly..a big security concern for us as women staying solo on our own in the rooms..so we all slept (barely) with one eye open most the night. 5. No hairdryers or toilettries despite website advertising there would be. 6. The corridors were all badly decorated, carpets and lighting poor and dark in some of it / and almost horror film like in its atmosphere. My colleague had to step over a man laying in the corridor passed out the next morning on way to check out. 7. One of our rooms didn't have a working TV. 8.We can't comment on the food as whilst it included breakfast in the cost to stay we were not feeling brave enough to try that experience for fear of being unwell as hygiene standards were so low. The five of us were all of the same collective opinion that it was the worst hotel we had ever stayed in in our lives. If you are reading this review and it puts even ONE person off booking and seeking an alternative option , then I will be satisfied I have saved someone else the same unbelievably horrible experience that we had. To end on a positive it made us even more grateful when we arrived at the Conference venue at a lovely hotel having stayed at the complete opposite end of the spectrum just 30 minutes before!

"Don't stay"

2.0

I had booked a room for my self and my son to break up a drive from Holyhead to Bucks. So I had booked a double room just for one night. The place is dilapidated and most it was unclear of it was dirty, worn or both. We checked in, went to the room, and as we walked it was very clearly not a modern, or modernised hotel. Anyway, in the room the first thing I did was check the sheets, and they was obviously stained. As I had to repark the car, I left my son in the room and looked for and booked into an alternative hotel.

"Do not respond to complaints"

2.0

I parked in teh hotel car park which is managed under parking eye. There was a faulty ticket machine so I paid twice to avoid fine. Contacted parking eye who confirmed The Royal Hotel take all revenue. Contacted hotel 3 times and to date not received a response - very poor business response to a straight forward request for a ticket refund !

"Simple Comfort"

10.0

This hotel is walking distance of the train station. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The king size bed was very comfortable and the private bathroom was adequate. The bathroom shower was electric which meant you had to pull a cord outside of the shower before you actually turned the shower on. The shower itself was nice and spacious. While our room faced a busy street, that didn't keep us from sleeping well. There is also coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies in the room.

Stayed at the Royal hotel for a couple of nights, found the place really amazing, great staff, huge hot breakfast and fantastic bars. The Langtrys club on Friday night was a great experience with fantastic music and very reasonable prices, adjacent to the main railway station so no taxi required.

"Second visit to the Royal Hotel"

10.0

I was back in Crewe again for work again last week & again had a great stay. My room was comfortable & very clean & the staff were very helpful. I remembered a couple of them from my visit earlier in the year. The breakfast in the morning was really good too, cooked to my specifications & really tasty. On the evening I arrived I had a couple of drinks in the Corner Bar, which is a great music / sports bar & the vibe in there was really good. WiFI was excellent too, as I needed to look in on my emails. Can strongly recommend staying there, it is very close to the railway station, if travelling by train.
