"Disappointed, expecting so much more."

7.0

Liked the room size and liked the features in the hallway. Swimming pool when usable.

Being greeted by old mattresses in reception was not a good start. It would have been nice to have honest information in adv ance that pool and garden were virtually unusable due to noisy construction work. Paid full price for a substandard product. No shaded areas to sit in no garden to access, weather horrendously hot and garden would have been a godsend at this time.Electrical equipment old and dated. Only one plug usable in kitchen area, no kettle ( how to boil water?). Pool towels not provided.Towels not changed. TV ancient and satellite TV not working. Arranged taxi ridiculously expensive, 25 euros Vs 8 euros for Uber. Hmmm. Does not meet Booking .com description and customer rating, compared with similar property in Almeria.

"Disappointing"

4.0

The beds were very comfortable, which we appreciated after a long day of travel. We just wish the noise from the hallway hadn’t carried so clearly into the room, and that the maintenance work hadn’t started so early and loudly in the morning.

I was initially excited to stay at Carmen de Ramilla, encantadora Guesthouse con piscina soleada, but the experience ended up being disappointing. When we arrived at the 2pm check-in time, the room wasn’t ready and took about 30 more minutes to clean — which we were understanding of. However, after a long train ride from Madrid, we asked the owner/manager to use the lobby bathroom and were told it wasn’t available. Instead, we were directed to our room while it was still being cleaned. Later, we saw the owner/manager using the same lobby bathroom, which made us feel unwelcome and othered, as it clearly was available — just not for us. The front door was also very difficult to unlock. We had to call the owner/manager for help, but a hands-on demonstration at check-in (which wasn’t provided) would have helped avoid confusion. In addition, the hallway was extremely noisy early in the morning, and the sound traveled easily through the door into our room. Lastly, the garden area was completely under construction — taped off and in disarray — leaving only a small section by the pool accessible.

"Very good"

8.0

Lovely newly done up room. Comfortable bed. Good area to all of Granada we walked everywhere. Lovely host very informative. I would stay again

Very noisy as cobbled roads so can’t sleep with windows open had airco on which was fine. Pillow need a hard and soft one as not everyone likes hard pillows. Work was being done in garden so did not use it or the pool, think it will be finished soon.

"Define worst place we have stayed during five weeks in Spain."

4.0

Good place to stay for the sights.

The room was not clean. The floor was dirty. Supposed to be self catering but the equipment was not up to any decent standards eg two knives. Only large pans. Outside was extensive building work on the garden. The men started at 7.30 and finished at 6pm. This was supposed to be a quiet end to our 5 week stay in Spain. Instead we couldn’t sit outside or use the pool with the noise and workmen around. The hotel should have notified us in advance about the renovations going on. Instead they just took our money with no apologies.

"Beautiful accommodation, great location"

9.0

Beautiful, recently decorated apartment in a traditional old building. Very clean and spacious with direct access to a sunny terrace and pool area. Great location tucked away in the heart of the Albaicín area but still a relatively short walk from the city centre and easily accessible by taxi. Our hostess Rachel made us feel most welcome.

"Very good"

8.0

Great location. Rachel was very helpful and no doubt it will be stunning when the work is finnished

The inside of the studio apartment was somewhat tired. (Cupboard around the sink and fridge was loose and rickety, fridge had no door on the ice compartment) and the facilities to self cater were limited due to poor selection of pans/utensils ( one pan ,with a lid that didn't fit, random mismatched cutlery, no bottle/tin opener or corkscrew....but 2 potato peelers 🤷🏻‍♀️) It's a pity because it's a lovely building in a great location

"Beautiful!"

10.0

Beautiful - recently renovated and in an amazing location. The staff are friendly and helpful and the room is so comfortable and done to a high standard.

Only small things - there was some work going on in the garden and a little bit of noise at night. But these were small issues compared to how lovely the place was.

"Absolutely wonderful! The view from our room was fantastic."

9.0

Our host, Rachel, was very warm and welcoming and was very helpful making sure we we early enough to get a park on a busy festival weekend. She also organised an excellent private tour of Alhambra as we were unable to get tickets. We were also lent a bus card for the local bus. The position in the Albaicin was excellent. The room was large and well equipped. We felt right at home here and loved staying in a traditional Carmen house.

A little tricky to get to parking with luggage but to be expected in old city quarters. But the charm and lively squares in the neighbourhood make up for it!
