The Langham Haikou

Management: 1. I had booked and paid for a room for a week in Jan. 2020. Then Covid-19 broke out, and my flight was canceled. I informed the hotel of my problem and unexpectedly got my refund shortly after. 2. I booked and received confirmation for a room for a week in March 2024. A day later I was informed that my credit card was invalid. This happened twice. The same card was used successfully to purchase two airline ticket a few minute earlier. So I called Visa Center that assured my card validity. This international call costed me over $40! When I mentioned this unpleasant experience, the front desk manager upgraded me to Club level room. 3. One day an elevator/lift I was riding on, with a few ladies, stoped suddenly and started dropping. The emergency button did not work. A bit scary. Fortunately after a few minutes, the ride resumed. After reporting the accident, the hotel sent me a fruit basket, and even gave me free breakfast. All managers I met show they are caring professional. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The hotel interior is beautiful; our room is elegant.

The buffet breakfast could have been a little bit better in term of variety. And it would be nice if there is a laundry line in the bathroom.

The services are very good. The rooms are pretty. Location is good as it’s not far from places to go. The checkout experience is very pleasant. Especially Julie who was attending to us at the counter was extremely warm. Feeling at home. The hotel is well recommended

Conveniently located hotel next to a huge mall. The room was very comfortable and the night view is amazing. Special thanks to Mr Joey for the warm & professional welcome and for making the check in process seamless. Breakfast was OK, a good spread to start the day off. I'd definitely return again.

This is not the Langham experience you expect. Do not put your Langham standard into this one, it’ll disappoint you. The original room booked was told not available during check in and asked if we are ok to downgrade. Of course said no, they said they’d figure out and give us a call once sorted. Ended up no one called after spending full day outside. There was a wedding happened during our stay and the wedding guests were hanging on the hallway and were SMOKING INDOORS. Of course the smell went into our room. Told the reception and they said the wedding guests are leaving soon and they can try to tell them to stop smoking. Also told they cannot accommodate a new room but can give us a free afternoon tea. Went to have our afternoon and they said it wasn’t free and spent a long time to verify. The whole experience was very unprofessionally handled, and the cleanliness is also concerning.

You getting 5 star standard with 3 star prices To pay ..it’s so worth it

We had an excellent visit at the Langham, Haikou! The moment we entered we were greeted by friendly staff and an elegant entry. The room was lovely and comfortable, with a stunning 5-Star view of the city and sea. However, the highlight of our stay was our dining experience! The breakfast spread was fresh and plentiful, and every meal we ate here was delicious and special. The real treat was the service, the manager Adam went above and beyond to make our experience extra special. He helped us decide what to eat, drink, and even gave us recommendations on what to do in the city! We can’t thank him and the rest of the Langham staff enough. We will certainly be returning on our next visit to Haikou.

Overall, we had an excellent stay at The Langham in Haikou. My partner and I stayed for 5 nights total. All of the food at their restaurants were excellent, and the staff was very kind, welcoming, and helpful. The location of the hotel is great if you want to explore the city. Right across the street from the hotel, there is a large park that is nice to walk through. There is also a lot of shopping within walking distance of the hotel. The Mixc mall is less than a 5 min walk from the hotel, and includes many restaurants, a grocery store which is convenient, and high-end luxury fashion stores such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc. The rooms were clean and the amenities at the hotel were nice. We stayed in the Deluxe king ocean view room, which gave us a great view of the city and water. Our room did not have a patio, but there are some rooms that do. We utilized their English afternoon tea time and ordered 2 different teas with a wide array of tea cakes and snacks. They also offer a large buffet for both breakfast and dinner. We also ate traditional Hainanese and Catonese cusine at Tang court, which was delicious. Other amenities include a spa, a steam room, and a sauna room (note: the steam room and sauna room are gendered so men and women cannot use them together). The infinity pool overlooking the city is also sweet. There is not a hot tub, but the weather is hot so you don’t really need one. My partner and I also got a couples massage in their spa, which was very nice and relaxing. Lastly, a very special thank you to the staff at the hotel. My partner and I are American and do not speak Chinese. Though not everyone at the hotel speaks English (which is understandable), there are many staff that do and are very kind and willing to help you with anything you need. Shout out to Adam, Daniel, and Julie, who were very kind, welcoming, and friendly to us throughout our stay. We hope to visit Haikou again soon, and would stay here again in a heartbeat :)
