"Stay at a working farm"

10.0

This is a working small farm, that is actually one of the highlights especially if you get kids. Free range chickens and turkeys going around, the resident pig doing the same plus sheep. The rooms are done to an hotel standard in a separate wing of the farmhouse. We were in the ensuite, the others got a private bathroom on the landing. Breakfast is essentially a fridge and a stock of all sort of cereals and conserves, plus fresh eggs that you can boil and fresh pastries brought in the morning. Self service in paper plates and cups but plenty of everything. Weak or no phone signal but a very good wi-fi connection in the farm.

We had a really lovely stay at the farm and was warmly welcomed by the hosts. Lots of animals and beautiful surrounding views - would highly recommend to anyone wanting a quiet stay away in the Peak District!

"Knights in shining armour"

10.0

Our stay was amazing. We were having the worst weekend away - we'd driven a 100 miles for an outdoor engagement shoot only for there to be a horrible (freezing) rainstorm! We were having car troubles as well and we only just made it to the farm. Needless to say, we were quite stressed and grumpy when we arrived, but when we did the hosts were the kindest we've ever had. They warmed us up with some mulled wine they just happened to have on and they insisted on giving us a lift to the local pub so we could eat, AND they picked us up afterwards too! They also said we could stay as long as we needed the next day, while our car was repaired. In terms of accommodation, the farmhouse was just what you'd hope it would be; rustic, charming and traditional. On the front doorstep there were cows, chickens and sheep! I packed layers in case it was draughty and I needn't have bothered, the room was as toasty as anything! Breakfast was fairly simple but there was a lot of choice (cereals, toast, bagels, teacakes, fruit etc). On a better weekend we would have also made the most of the nearby walks and gone back to explore the local town of Bakewell, and we actually hope to do so... but maybe in the summer!

Vicky & James were great hosts, room was very cosy and warm. Breakfast was great, lots of different options. Only slight negative it is very hard to contact them. Was a diversion about 4 min from there house but couldn't get contact them for directions. Also left charger there, emailed them but no reply. Not sure if it was right email though. Would go back as that was only a small problem. It didn't retract from the warm & friendly welcome.

"Charming room in stunning spot"

8.0

Amazing location, lovely people, lovely room, great shower, everything super-clean, really generous breakfast. We loved watching the beautiful array of hens clucking round the yard! We also did some amazing walks straight from the property. The only thing which would stop us coming back was the really soft bed, which meant we didn't sleep well. However, some people prefer soft beds, and maybe the other rooms have firmer beds. We were also disappointed with the disposable cups and plastic cutlery. But next time we could bring our own reusable cups and cutlery.

"What a fabulous place. "

10.0

The welcome we received on arrival from Vicky was lovely. The room was beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable. Although we were booked in for bed and breakfast Vicky said to help ourselves to any of the breakfast items if we were hungry. The amount of choice we had for a continental breakfast was brilliant and found it difficult to choose!!!! Vicky asked when we arrived if we had anything planned for our evening meal. We hadn't and asked if she could suggest somewhere. Well her suggestion was brilliant and she even booked the table for us. The farmhouse is an beautiful place and feel very welcome. We are already planning on going back. Thank you for such a lovely stay.
