The Oakeley Arms Hotel

We have been looking forward to trying this place for 5 years always going past it but always too busy to go there, our first visit was unbelievable, we booked as a family of 3 and ended up in the function room, freezing cold at a table for 7 with doors to the outside seating area opening and shutting every 5 mins the lovely lady behind the bar got the heating out on but our food went cold anyway. 2nd visit today (6/10/24) we booked on the day of our previous trip hoping for a better experience, we were seated at a table not only in front of the doors (next to the non existent harpist) but with everyone floating past us to the carvery not only one side but both, 5 minutes after setting our food down it was cold, we asked for Chardonnay and got Shiraz it could not have been worse if we had tried, I’m so disappointed, the only saving grace was the lovely chef carving the meat with a lovely sense of humour (by the way I did eat all the meat) I would like to say we would be back but……..

I'd happily return to this hotel. I enjoyed two nights dinner but would have liked to see plain yoghurt, smoked salmon and smoked haddock on the breakfast menu. Thank goodness the extractor fans turned off at night.

The hotel is conveniently located to explore the Welsh highlands, and the Welsh Highlands and Ffestiniog Railways. A good breakfast is served in the morning and there's a good food menu in the evening.

Nice place to be based for touring around this part of Wales. Food good and plentiful. Staff friendly and helpful. Building a bit run down but not too bad.

The architecture of this place was interesting and quaint.

Second time here and came back bcs really loved ot only thing is that now we came back just 2 of us and booked double room, everything is amazing exept bed…. first time we was in family room where all 3 beds was really comfy, when you decorate room so perfect and all looks so wonderfull invest a little bit money into bed as well…. the rest amazing like first time :)

No criticisms at all, everything went well, good dinner and breakfast, room as you would want it, quiet at night. All staff very pleasant and personable. Thank you for a nice stay.
