Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf

We booked a 6 night stay at the hotel staying in a superior room. Nice warm welcome from Reception who checked us in promptly and took payment of the resort fees. We were given a couple of bottles of water and our key cards and directed to the lift so that we could go to our room. Room was nice, clean and comfortable. It was well serviced by the room maid during our stay. Coffee was replenished daily as were clean towels. We had a bath / shower combo. Water pressure wasn't very powerful but there was always hot water when we ran the shower. The handbasin sink only had a trickle but again was ample to fill a cup to clean your teeth. We were on the second floor and had a small balcony which had a street view. During the late night / early morning cars would race up and down the street. Surprised there wasn't an accident. We lay in bed waiting for a bang. Breakfast was plentiful and self service. Lots of choice. We never went hungry. We didn't have to wait in line too long before a table for two came empty. One day they sat us outside of the main restaurant area on the deck opposite. Whilst this area isn't as busy with people walking around, it was a nightmare trying to come out of the dining room with hot drinks, across the corridor and up the steps back to the table. However no one wore my cup of tea I don't know. We were offered this area again the next day but politely said we would wait for a table to come free in the main restaurant, which although busy was just easier. Staff were friendly and cleared tables quickly. Food constantly replenished. We are early risers so when we went for breakfast it was around 7.15 am. Later it certainly got busy especially at the week-end - however fleet week was on and so maybe additional tourists staying at the hotel. We used the bar one evening and had a beer flight of craft ales which was nice. Outside there are a number of chairs / sofa's with a gas fire which was lovely and cost for a evening drink. However these got taken quite early. We used the Grab and Go shop facility on a couple of occasions for a sandwich at the end of full day out and also a couple of bottles of beer. There's a 7/11 and a Trader Joe's within walking distance. Check out was easy. Luggage storage is available for arrival / departures. We dropped our key cards in a quick check out box. We looked at the pool on site but didn't use it. There were sunbeds around the pool and pool towels available.

Love how easy the check in was, how close the hotel was at the Fisherman's Wharf, and friendly and accommodating the staff were to us. Hotel was clean, nearby important travel/tourists destination, and in a convenient location. Love the warmth of the fireplace pits outside, where we wait for our Uber driver/Waymo ride. Most importantly, the best part is the big spread of free buffet breakfast with huge amount of healthy food selections.

This hotel is great, it has everything, good location, you can walk just about every where, it has a very good breakfast, service is very good, very friendly ambiance, the only one thing that I didn't like was the bathroom, the toilet and the shower are together and not enough space to close the door, other than that, everything is good.

We decided to make a nice weekend since the weather was great. I'm so glad that we select this hotel because the location was very convenient. Walking distance to the wharf as well as north beach which had the festivities going on at the same time. The staff were very pleasant, the rooms were spacious and very clean. Due to the great experience, we are already planning our next weekend getaway away at this same hotel.

4.5 Stars Excellent hotel in a great location at Fisherman's Wharf. Very nice design in the lobby and common areas. Staff (especially the breakfast crew) were super helpful and friendly. In-room safe and fridge are appreciated. SUPER comfy bed. The breakfast (included) is excellent but skip the powdered eggs! Would definitely stay here again. Close to public transport (Bus and Cable Car) but San Francisco is a VERY walkable city. Parking is available for a fee.

The staff was above and beyond the expectations we had. Kind and extremely helpful. The room was extremely clean and updated. The location was great, close to transportation and Fisherman's Wharf. Highly recommend Riu!!

The staff at the in-checking and at the breakfast was very rigid and unpolite. The hotel and breakfast is good, but the stay was not as good as it could have been in San Francisco due to the poor service at this hotel. We would recommend you to find another hotel in the Fisherman's Wharf area!

This was a fall break trip for our girls and RIU did not disappoint. The hotel is in a wonderful location close to the tourist attractions and shops and seals of course at PIER 39 along with the tour groups involved with whale watching, touring San Francisco and touring the Bay. Great access to Bart and Muni along with Waymo and Uber. Very good location for restaurants (seafood and Italian). The breakfast offered was by far the best I have ever experienced home and abroad. Huge selection of items with an international vibe of fresh bread, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, fruit, boiled eggs, salmon, cold cuts, and coffee or tea along with standard fare of bacon, eggs, sausage, roasted potatoes, pancakes and pastries. The girls loved it ! The staff from room service, front desk to wait staff in the restaurant were incredible, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely rebook at RIU on our next trip to San Francisco!

The hotel was fine just expensive for everything incl food drinks and accommodation. It was close to Fishermans wharf so was good location

Everything was great, the only concern was I think the housekeeping was making too much noises in the next room. It was earlier around 8am or more earlier.
