The Swiss Cottage, Shanklin

The rooms were spacious, well laid out. Plenty of storage space and hangers ( one of my pet hates is not enough hangers ) Christine & Keith provide lots of little extras , especially knowledge of the Island . Ideal location. Friendly family run B&B , with an amazing breakfast.

For some people it may seem a little old fashioned and dated .

There was plenty of choice, but (as a retired cook) poorly cooked. Fruit , either fresh or tinned would have been welcome. The storage in the bedroom was excellent.

We were very disappointed with our room. Having paid for a Deluxe Double Room, it did not come up to the standard we expected. Having seen inside other rooms when doors were left open, they were far superior to ours. There was no sitting area, we had to sit on the bed and the shower was very cramped. We were promised a view on our paperwork which turned out to be the backs of houses opposite and their rubbish bins.

Very friendly place with a great location to all amenities, clean and can’t do enough for you & excellent breakfast to boot

Good location, peaceful at night. Everything is in easy walking distance - the beach, Shanklin Old Village, main shopping street, bus and rail stations, making it easy to explore other parts of the Island without a car. As a solo traveller I appreciated the extra space of a twin room which was very clean and comfortable with an en-suite toilet and shower room. Thoughtful toiletry extras, a hairdryer, kettle and tea/coffee etc plus a mini fridge/cooler were a nice touch. The owners are welcoming, friendly people and Christine was especially helpful. I had a great time and would stay again!
