We really appreciated the breakfast which was unexpected from the advert but there were not enough plates, bowls, cutlery etc

We did not take breakfast there but we found thre room clean and comfortable and the staff friendly helpful and competent

Mike was very accommodating, we arrived late and was pleasantly surprised at the room, tea making facilities and comfy beds. Just what we needed after a busy day at a wedding.

Nostalga as i used the pub for 34 years before i left the area 18 years ago.

The breakfast was below par...marmalade jar (off the shop shelf) empty first morning staff informed...same empty jar the next morning....come on..offer a full breakfast.

Stuff on arrival were very kind helpful and even let us check in early due to haveing a wedding.

Nothing bad wish there was a way to deposit a the room key as left early and had to phone.

Really friendly owner and lovely large room.

The location - it is the only place to stay in Downton for a couple of nights. Ample parking. A very comfortable, attractive and clean room, which was at the back of the property and free of traffic noise

While fully understanding that the breakfast was intended to be modest, we did wonder whether the modesty had gone a bit too far. The offering consisted of a selection of cereals and baked goods only, with no yogurt, juice or fruit except for two bananas (all right if you like bananas, of course!). Strangely, on the tables were containers with vinegar and sauces, but there was nothing to go with them! But the value for money overall was very good, so we contented ourselves with importing a few additions to make the breakfast on day 2 more palatable. And then we left for a nice coffee in the café in the middle of Downton!
