Compass Rose Lodge

The Compass Rose Lodge is a fun getaway in gorgeous Huntsville. The place was decorated beautifully - we loved the industrial barn style so much. Bed was comfy and we didn't wake each other tossing and turning like usual. Our only complaint was that we were looking forward to the nice continental breakfast we expected at this chic place, but instead were informed at check-in that there would be a paper sack containing breakfast placed outside our room in the morning, "due to covid". It is the end of June, 2021. The restaurant inside the Lodge itself is open. I realize that serving up a sack lunch is a MUCH cheaper option, but it was very disappointing and felt like a bit of a cop-out when covid is really not an issue in this area anymore. Very disappointing to splurge on a hotel stay and not get a key part of it. Other than that, we really liked the Compass Rose Lodge and would definitely visit again.

Great get away for us, love the area and views, if you need fine dining do it before you arrive, small town . (Appealed to us) grab some snacks to bring with you, not too many choices in immediate area.

This hotel is everything you could want for a weekend away. Kind owners who put care into every decoration, appliance, and design element, who are happy to tell you the history of this charming spot or just let you relax. Gorgeous lobby, great coffee shop, clean well-appointed rooms with top of the line toiletries....and nestled in a gorgeous valley with the best mountain access. Can't wait to return when the observatory is open again.

Beautiful property and room

Great location and rooms with a view. Very clean and up to date rooms. Coffee shop on site and breakfast were great. Room was fairly small and no real amenities other than the coffee shop, but I really liked it and would stay again.

Was overall very good place to stay

We stayed at the Compass Rose for our anniversary. The lodge is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Our room looked out to the park and square at the middle of the town. The staff told us that they have filmed 2 Hallmark Christmas movies here too.

We were more than pleasantly surprised at the style and comfort of the lodge - almost as if it were a set for a Sundance catalog photo shoot! As we were there on the off-season, we had the whole place to ourselves, literally, so hung out in the comfortable lobby in the evening in front of the lovely gas fireplace.
