The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

I remember coming here and being so swept away by the service and beauty of the hotel back in 2014. 14 years later I’ve returned and can say it has changed and not in a good way. Housekeeping has failed to clean the room within regular hours and there’s sand / wet towels / unmade beds left all day. When you get back from being gone all day (8-4) you expect it will be cleaned- called lobby and assistant on the phone sounded less than thrilled to provide help. Apparently they still have another hour til 5 to get it done. It’s all good, but seems pretty late to be getting that done when people are on vacation and getting back from beach / wanting to get ready for dinner. Secondly, the elevators are running very poorly. Several times I’ve felt drops in the elevator, have had 5 min wait times to get one to my floor, and the doors are scratched / look like people are moving in regularly haha. Lastly, went to beach and asked for 4 chairs at 12pm (have 4 people and 2 rooms)- one of the guys said he didn’t know if they could get all 4 together?! 🤣 with a huge stack of chairs in the background being unused. All around it seems so much lazier and underwhelming than I remember, and I’m not feeling the same sparkle at all.

The hotel staff was rude overcharged for my staff and treated me disrespectfully. The property was dirty the room nasty the bed sheets still had other people hair and dirty -disgusting hotel

Marriott must have really lower their standards to allow this hotel to be called a Westin. On the only plus side the staff is wonderful. First the hotel is very dated,. We checked in and went to our room only one elevator is working out of three Then we went to our room and it was freezing tried turning off The A/C unit and that didn't work so we raise the temps to 75 no affect. Finally Maintain came up to fix the unit and turned it off. It got warm that night is I turned the A/C unit on it was extreme loud and is leaking into the floor. Next the remote for the TV didn't work,

Let’s get the bad part out of the way first. Sadly, management is unresponsive when I attempted to address an issue. I typically spend about 100 nights at Marriott hotels each year, by choice because of their service, so being a member of Marriott is important to me, and this management team showed me how much they can care less what status you may have. I read similar reviews but I ignored it, dismissing it as potential one-off’s. I emailed Marriott corporate, who promised to engage the property and have them address my concern. The property did not care and did not respond to Marriott HQ either. This experience has been terrible and it seems like the property manager doesn’t care. So, if you have an issue, good luck getting it resolved. I’m just one of many comments explaining the non-responsiveness of the management at this Marriott. Onto the positives. The hotel is in a great location and has a fun atmosphere inside. The rooms are a bit dated, but they are comfortable and the bathrooms are good. The hotel was clean, and although it’s a busy hotel, it is not noisy. The restaurant located on the hotel property is really the star of the whole stay! Dog friendly as well, which is a huge plus for us!

The hotel is perfect for what we need. Clean, modern, great amenities, right by the beach. We were most blown away by the service we received especially from David and Kathy at the front desk! They were so helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Kind and courteous in a way that you just don’t see so much anymore.

John Diaz was very helpful during my time with the Westin. He helped me scan an important document that needed to be sent right away, he was attentive and very kind. Overall staff was amazing and I had a wonderful time.

I’ve visited a few times this location. Not only is this hotel ocean front with beautiful front views but David from the front desk adds to the experience. He really does set my stay up for relaxation.
