The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

I just have to say!! Not just the hotel is wonderful! The location is the best! The rooms are impacable! The staff Make It all!!! Front desk is awesome specially Jhonattan Diaz the Front desk manager went all Beyond with his professionalism and Also his warm Welcome to the hotel to feel a home away from home! I can not say more beautiful things about all the staff I would like to recognized Storm and Jocelyn!! Their hearts are gold!! They help me and my kids with all the luggage and stored for ya ao we can enjoy the rest of the day on ocean and having fun! They make us feel Welcome and without say more !! They are the first welcome Face at the hotel make it the best!! My congratulations to The management!! I will truly recommend to family and friends!! I can wait to Coming back!!

I was so disappointed in the pool at this hotel. It was “jank” (as my kids would say). Cheap lounge chairs, chipping paint, ratty towels, and much too small to accommodate the amount of people. We went to the beach one day and used the pool at another resort. Will not be back.

Shanique at the pool bar was awesome! Took care of my work colleagues and I with excellent drinks made quickly - and did so with a smile! Thanks Shanique!!

This hotel was a total disaster from the minute we stepped in. 1. The lock for our safe didn’t work 2. The stopper in the bath tub didn’t work. When we checked in, there was hair everywhere. 3. The water was Yellow. Apparently they are doing maintenance, which is fine but at least Westin should notify guests before they arrive on any ongoing situation . We found out from a small note on the bathroom sink and of course when we saw the colored water in the tub. Our 5 year old has sensitive skin. Her face was half red for most of the night due to whatever it is in the water. 4. This was not all. The worst thing that happened to us were the elevators. The elevators are also getting some kind of upgrade. We were waiting for the elevator. It finally arrived in the lobby. I sent my kids in first (2 & 5 year old). My 2 year old got in, when my 5 year old was at the door, it started closing on her so I pulled her out so she won’t be squashed by the doors. I tried to put my arm to stop the doors to no avail. Their sensors were not working. The door closed and my 2 year old was by herself In the elevator going up and down by herself several times. Behind us there was a hotel employee that did not help. Panicking I went to the front desk and told the lady that had just checked us in of what just had happened but wasn’t helpful much either. I went back to the elevator. And luckily for us a nice guest brought her back down. Our 2 year old was hysterical. She was in shock and traumatized just like us and her older sibling. We couldn’t calm the older sibling either. The hotel employee that was right behind us didn’t do anything, he actually left when he saw the chaos! The receptionist didn’t do anything. Nobody checked on us. Nobody apologized. We didn’t hear anything from them! The different scenarios that went through my mind during that time, no other parent should go through. The crazy part is that during our 2 night stay we heard several people complain on how fast the elevator door closes and how the sensors weren’t working. We will never stay at another Westin hotel again. Why should we stay at a place where no one cares about you or your kids??

I’m sure there are some nice rooms in this hotel but not ours. #542 looks out onto a disgusting white wall. The hair dryer is dirty and completely basic. Check in people are pleasant but of course the room wasn’t ready. Very dated. Would not recommend.

We stayed at the Westin Fort Lauderdale during the holiday season, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Compared to other hotels in the area, this property feels dated and likely originates from the 1960s. Its age is evident in every aspect. Rather than attempting piecemeal updates, the property would benefit from a complete rebuild. Starting with the room, it is severely outdated despite the hotel’s claims of investing in renovations. At best, these updates appear purely cosmetic. The furniture, fixtures, and overall layout feel worn and tired, giving the impression that time has simply passed the hotel by. We paid a premium for an oceanfront view, which ultimately proved to be poor value. The room had no balcony, and the window itself was impractical and not something you would realistically open to enjoy. Paying extra for this so called view was simply not worth it. The issues extended beyond the room as well. The hallways leading to our room had a strong mold odor and felt dark and dingy, further contributing to a sense of neglect. The elevators were frequently delayed with only one operational, forcing us to take the stairs to the lobby through a staircase that was in need of extensive repair. Rather than feeling like a luxury stay, the atmosphere was uncomfortable and uninviting. In terms of service, we requested daily room cleaning at the time of check-in. Despite this request, we experienced repeated issues with our room not being serviced, which was frustrating and detracted from the overall experience. Be warned, if you try calling the front desk, you will be left waiting and waiting because no one answers the phone. For example, we visited the front desk 2x to get an extra bath towel in our room. The pool area is quite basic and offers very limited amenities. While there is a bar, a simple pool, and complimentary towels, there is nothing particularly luxurious about the experience. The only redeeming feature of the property is its proximity to the beach, but this is offered by much nicer resorts. Overall, this hotel does not live up to the Westin name or the expectations associated with it, especially given the many options nearby.

Well in advance of our reservation, I called and spent a considerable amount of time reserving connecting rooms. I was assured we were set, but when we arrived there were no connecting rooms available and the front desk staff seemed to disbelieve that I had made this reservation. No suitable alternatives were offered to accommodate our family, and the staff was not at all apologetic or even friendly. We took two separate rooms as it was late and we didn’t have other options. Then we attempted to order room service dinner via the online option, but the system kept freezing. I next attempted to call room service but was hung up on three times without ever getting connected to in room dining. After that, guest services stopped answering the phone entirely. I am a long time Marriott member and have stayed in many affiliated hotels of different levels within the brand and have never been more disappointed in the service I have received.
