Francis Marion Hotel

This hotel is so classy, the employees are top notch, kind, always smiling and always ready to help. Our room was amazing, it even had two bathrooms which was a huge welcome surprise! Glorious views from our hotel windows and the swamp fox restaurant weekend buffet was delicious and very reasonable compared to other local eateries. Beds were very firm but not uncomfortable, they had lovely turn down service and brought you chocolates in the evening and everything about the hotel felt warm and inviting!!! We will book again for sure!

Great hotel in the timeless, classic tradition of a bygone era, but still relevant, beautiful and fully functioning. They don't build hotels like this any more - one in the great tradition of the Ambassador in Los Angeles or the Astor in New York. Where else do you get stationary, envelopes and postcards in your room any more? You do at The Marion. Stay there. We loved it and will return. And the restaurant downstairs had a delicious breakfast - the perfect way to start the day.

The concierge, Dawn Smyth, was simply wonderful and took such good care of me. Every detail was handled with kindness and grace. Truly first-class service

Just returned from a 5-night stay as park of a Road Scholar tour. This was a great trip in part because of our stay at this hotel. First, yes, some of the bathrooms are small, but I feel it’s necessary to address the multiple Trip Advisor complaints about the size of the rooms. See my photos. My room and bathroom were very comfortable. I traveled alone so I’ll acknowledge that it could have been a bit tight with 2 people. Some of my fellow travelers said they had 2 bathrooms in their room. If you need lots of space, I suggest you ask for a larger room when you book. If you stay for more than 1 night, don’t splurge on valet parking. The garage is 3 doors down. You can drop off your luggage at the hotel entrance, drive to the garage, park , and be back at the hotel in 10 minutes. There is an elevator in the garage. Southern hospitality is on full display! All the staff is top notch. Housekeeping, dining, bar and front desk are eager to please. Lots of reviewers say this hotel looks “tired” and needs a remodel. This hotel is over 100 years old. Yes, it does not have modern fixtures, but it’s clean and comfortable. There’s plenty of hot water and has a room refrigerator that actually refrigerates. (Nice touch that your complimentary water is put in the refrigerator to keep cold!). I hope to function so well at 100 years old! Enjoy your stay.

Location. In site restaurant was very good. Water and cookies.

Street noise was pretty loud; lots of car racing in street. A/C seemed hard to keep cool at night. Bathroom was very small.

This hotel is well situated. The room was spoilt by a small bathroom. If you are not using all the facilities it is too expensive. The breakfast is very ordinary and the staff were so slow in serving. The bar is small but nice. Valet parking should be included in the price.

The hotel's a fancy place located downtown. The restaurant is pretty good, and worth checking out. It's a short walk to the city market, and to the ocean walk.
