Terribly old and dilapidated hotel that’s in serious need of a remodel. Valet parking cost more than our rental car did ($80/night). All the furniture in my room was banged up, scuffed or damaged. Tv never worked. The carpet, colors, decor all feel old and outdated. I used points and cash to book and got a standard city view and still came out of pocket $1k and don’t see the value in it one bit. I would never stay here or recommend it to anyone. The breakfast buffet is $50 and it’s average at best. Never again.

Title: Lipstick on a Pig Review Body: My experience with this trip was a perfect example of how two companies — Booking.com and Hyatt — can turn what should have been a relaxing vacation into a frustrating mess. Booking.com dropped the ball from the start. Their customer service repeatedly told me my stay was “paid in advance” when in reality no payment had ever been taken. Because of that misinformation, I walked into the Hyatt thinking everything was settled, only to be told at check‑in that I owed the full amount. Booking.com couldn’t provide a receipt because there was nothing to provide — they never charged me. Their agents contradicted each other, gave me incorrect information, and left me to deal with the fallout at the hotel. Hyatt Waikiki didn’t help the situation either. The property looks great on the surface, but the experience never matched the appearance. I was initially told the stay might be fully compensated due to the issues I encountered, but in the end all they did was remove the resort fees — a gesture I appreciated, but far from what was implied. The rest of the stay was charged in full. The goodwill gestures (20,000 points and breakfast) were nice, but they didn’t erase the stress, confusion, and disappointment caused by both companies. Between Booking.com’s misinformation and Hyatt’s inability to deliver on what was suggested, the entire stay felt like lipstick on a pig — dressed up nicely, but the underlying problems were impossible to ignore. I expected better from both companies.

Lipstick on a pig. I know that's harsh but let me explain. The room was outdated. I mean a tub shower in the Hyatt regency was totally unexpected. We had poor lighting in the room. Be in room coffee was below expectations. Being in Hawaii I would have expected better coughing. The hotel is very hard to navigate.

It was okay. I they had construction going on that they did not disclose. Very large size room. Bathroom wasn’t fully cleaned and very basic, but you’re not there for the room. Location really is smack in middle can walk majority of places. One thing to know is if you rent a car good luck parking is awful. We didn’t even end up leaving except for one day because they use there hotel garage for public parking and when we returned parking garage was full when called and asked where do I park they told me if it’s full it’s full there is nothing they can do, yet I was staying there and paid for my parking $65 a night that was very upsetting.

Loved the atmosphere at the resort. Great central location. Transportation to activities was great. Loved Pear Harbor! All of our activities were fun with pleasant tour guides.

The hotel is situated the south/eastern tip of the touristy area, which makes it great in the sense you are close but not in the middle of everything. The hotel is in decent shape, but there are elements that are showing its age and upkeeping in comparison to nearby hotels. The lobby and common area are under sizable renovation/construction, so know that until that is completed, the common space is not polished (and a far cry for what Hyatt Regency should represent). The hotel room we first got (Diamond Head wing) was right next to the elevator (despite me asking for something quiet). The walls are quite thin, so we heard beeps/mechanic whenever the elevator stops on our floor. There were at least one other guest near us that was playing really loud music and no one seems to be address it (you can hear it in the hallway in "normal" volume). After a bit of help from James at the Front Desk, we were moved to the Ewe Wing in a quiet room. The Ewe Wing is a bit away from the construction area, so if you are not needing to go to Front Desk, as least your entry and exit can avoid the construction area. The rooms are spacious and generally well appointed (good lights, comfy beds). The bathrooms have some good amenities (good water pressure, good shower head, bidets, etc), but some fixture are in need of repair (the water spout in the shower of the Diamondhead room is falling off the wall). The common area has a pool which we did not use, but looks clean. The hotel is across the street from the beach, so not sure if there is a real good reason to use the pool for most people. We only used the Swim dining room, which is casual eatery. The Buffet and the Shor are both buffet dining and priced a bit high that you might as well go enjoy a nice meal at a nice restaurant around town for less. Front Desk people are all really helpful and friendly, but woefully understaffed. There did not appear to be a concierge desk, so everyone ended up standing in line at the Front Desk for everything. I was here at this hotel 40 years ago as a kid, and really wanted this place to wow me the way it did. Alas, it didn't. I would say the hotel is good, but not the great that I recall as a kid.

Customer service was AWESOME !! Every employees I've seen always smiling and acknowledging. The rooms so spacious and my kids missed the bidet toilet. We will be coming back soon !!

The amenities (loved the heated bidet), the location, the room was larger then I expected and the beach was across the street. Their maintance person almost came immediately. Front desk was very apologetic about the issue.

We did have to search for the spa. There wasn't any signs directing us to it. We didn't realize we had to take a separate elevator to that floor. This wasn't the hotel's fault however the building next to us was under construction so there was a lot of noise. I did pay for an ocean view however the ocean was off to the side.
