Hyatt Regency Lexington

I cannot recommend this hotel. We chose the Hyatt Regency because it’s connected to Rupp Arena where we were attending a concert. Check-in time was 4 PM (concert started at 7:30 pm) and we arrived a couple minutes before 4. We entered the hotel and saw the entire lobby/bar area was full of people holding their luggage. When we reached the check-in desk, we were informed that our room wasn’t ready and they would text us as soon as it was. I asked if it would be more than an hour and the staff scoffed and said absolutely. At 5:45 pm, I asked about our room status and they said it still wasn’t ready. We noticed other guests who arrived after us getting upset with the staff and that resulted in them magically getting their room keys. After checking with the front desk, two more times, we were finally assigned our room at 6:30. The staff told us as compensation for the inconvenience they would give us breakfast vouchers. We were in a hurry to get to our room, shower, and dress for the concert so they said they would slide the vouchers under our door. No vouchers ever arrived. There are only three elevators in the lobby and after the concert, there was a VERY long wait. The rooms was in good condition and clean. It was hit and miss with the staff.

Great stay, rooms were clean, staff was friendly and helpful and the food was great! Valet was exceptional. Young man was very considerate and extremely helpful to this senior handicapped couple! Will definitely return!

The hotel is located right next to the Rupp Arena and is very popular and busy due to its location. Unfortunately, it is also showing its age and is in need of a renovation. It’s fine for a quick stay, but don’t expect anything special.

The Hyatt is a great location to stay if you are going to an event at the Lexington Center! Very clean, comfortable and quite!

Attend the Sweet 16 boys basketball tournament each year. Enjoy the atmosphere and seeing basketball fans gather each year.

Convience of being able to walk to Rupp and not have to drive.

Night time traffic noise.

The room was dirty. I showered in the morning and pulled the curtain closed and there was a dirty wash cloth draped over the curtain rod that had a pinkish brown stains. I thought no one will be touching that so i let that bed. Until i pulled the sheets back to make the bed before we left for our competition and there was what looked like could be foundation spilled on the sheet you would lay on. I checked the other bed and there were pink sticky stains on the comforter. I notified the front desk. They said they would send someone right up. It took about 2 hr 45 minutes and having to interpret with my phone with the house keeper to get our sheets changed and room cleaned. The return cover for the AC was hanging off the wall and was VERY VERY dusty. The room wouldn’t get colder than 74 degrees. It was not the best stay and for the cost absolutely ridiculous how dirty the room was.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington. It was a bit of a full-circle moment for me—the hotel opened when I was a student at UK back in the 1970s, so I’ve known it for a long time. The building is showing its age. That’s just reality. It’s a well-used facility, and it looks like one. But I also understand that—and I actually appreciate that Hyatt is putting significant money into a renovation. It’s needed, and it’s good to see they’re investing in the future of the property. What stood out to me, though, is what hasn’t changed. The customer service is still first-rate. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful. That part of the experience felt consistent with what I remember—and frankly, it matters more than new carpet or updated fixtures. So yes, the facility is a bit worn right now. But the people are excellent, and that goes a long way. With the renovation ahead, I think this place will come back strong.
