DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel South Bend

I stayed at your property Friday, October 4th. Gene who picked me up at the airport, was very friendly and helpful for suggesting the LaSalle for a place to eat and also got me to the football game, He also shared some stories about South Bend and ND on the way to the game.. He even joined me for a beer after his shift! Randall was also awesome giving me a ride to the light rail on a busy Saturday night. He too was so friendly, accommodating, and eager to help. As a person who works hospitality at The Riverside Hotel in Boise, I understand what good service and dedication is all about. These two gentlemen go above and beyond and are a huge asset to your property! Thank you, Steve Swoyer Boise

The staff was very nice and helpful. The place is very dated - as in old worn carpet, dingy wals, etc and with a lot of old moldy smells. Our room was redone and looked nice but the mold smell was overwhelming.

Nice location, revitalizing south Bend. Facility is a little tired. Breakfast not worth $18, poor quality interstate exchange over-night hotel style buffet.

This visit the hallway to our room desperately needed vacuuming, there was a small spot of dried blood on my duvet and the staff overseeing the paltry buffet breakfast ($18) "didn't know" if they had milk for my cereal (we left and went to the Starbucks nearby). We've had enjoyable stays here in the past, like the central location and nearby restaurants, but things seemed to have changed--including the $300+ cost for a room on a quiet weekday evening compared to much lower price a year ago.

I have stayed here twice and 2 elevators have been out of service each time

The hotel was just okay, but definitely not worth the price. The room felt rundown. The toilet paper wasn’t even on a holder, just sitting on the counter. The shower/tub had rust, and the walls were covered in some kind of heavy white buildup that made it feel unclean. When I arrived, the A/C wasn’t running, so I walked into a hot, stuffy room. It took half the night before it finally cooled down enough to sleep comfortably. Service wasn’t much better. I’ve asked for my room receipt more than once and still haven’t received it. Overall, the stay was passable if you just need a place to crash, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless there are no other options.
