DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel South Bend

We have stayed here in the past and will definitely stay again. The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom was pretty small that would be my only complaint. It is central to dining and very close to ND.

Convenient location

Very very hot in lobby!!!!

This is my second time staying here, and even though they’re doing some renovations, it was still very comfortable. I have seen some reviews that say the construction from renovation made their experience terrible—it had no impact on my stay at all. There was no noise, my room was just fine, and all of the amenities were available. I saw a guy painting in the lobby when I was leaving, and that’s it. It was clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the location is convenient.

We stayed at this hotel one night 8/16/25 , This place is absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Couldnt get hot water in the shower. The bathroom had blood (or something) red at the base of the toilet and smelled like vomit. No clock anywhere in the entire room. The lighting in the bathroom and main room was dim and I could not see to do my makeup for the anniversary party we were attending. I had to do it in my car! When we returned they moved us to another room and the water temp would not get past lukewarm. The only adjustment they would make was to comp the parking fee. They had told us they would discount the room charge but changed their mind to give us 15000 honors points instead. I wouldnt stay there again and expected better for this brand. Oh and did I mention the cleaners knocked on the door at 8 AM expecting to clean the room ? they were so loud in the hall it sounded like they were having a party. Get your act together Hilton !

Everything was under construction and it made the stay unbearable.

We had a nice stay overall. We were surprised that there was no air conditioning on in the main areas of the hotel including the lobby and atrium where the restaurant was. We had to use room service for our meal because we didn’t want to eat and sweat at the same time. It was very much like a sauna with the temps outside near 90 degrees. The air conditioning worked perfectly in the actual hotel room. Just the other areas and hallways were very hot plus the elevators. The pool area was very warm and pool water was a mild warm bath temp a few degrees less would have been more ideal for the summer months in our opinion, so we passed on the pool option considering it was hot everywhere else but in our room.

There is no real reason not to have air conditioning in the dining area.

This Doubletree is going through a much needed renovation. When it gets done it will probably be nice but until then not so great.

Room was dirty, floor clearly not swept,staff at front desk was new and needed direction, no ice machine was working and no one in the restaurant for ice. Refrigerator had water all over the bottom. Theshower seals bad in room, water was all over the floor. Hotel was hot, room was uncomfortable, A/C in room couldn't keep up. Parking garage looked like a dump and staff hanging out in trh dump isnt a good look. Expected better.

So hotel is in midst of refurbishment so some things like ac in the corridors were not working well. Rooms perfect - bed and pillows fantastic. Breakfast buffet great value and good food - sausage gravy and biscuits was exactly as should be.
