Sheraton Louisville Riverside by Marriott

I can’t believe this place had such a high rating when I went to book it. I don’t write reviews but there were too many bothersome things not to share. First of all, upon entering the room I could easily tell it had not been vacuumed in a while. There was obvious dog hair in the carpet and on the sofa bed. All of the coffee packs in the room were only decaf. Strange. We used the shower the first day. It wouldn’t drain. (But also too easily could spray out and flood the rest of the bathroom.) I asked the receptionist if someone could fix it while we were out the second day. They did send someone. The shower was cleaned out and towels refreshed but, again, it would not drain the second time. It was so gross taking a showering in standing water. I felt like I was going to leave with a fungus. The most outrageous experience of the stay was having breakfast one morning. My kids and I came down late, so we were the only ones. Breakfast was laid out, it looked like any other continental breakfast at a mediocre hotel. A woman greeted us and asked our drinks. We ate and only AFTER we were all done did she ask if we had a voucher for breakfast. I had NO idea that breakfast was not free. SO STUPID. Oh! And the pool! Literal hairballs stuck to the walls. Built up dirt lying in standing water. And an overwhelming amount of chlorine in apparent attempt to give it a proper clean. The stairs into the pool were slimy. Ughhhhh

We love the location on the river. There’s a light changing walking bridge to enjoy at night. Goes from Indiana to Kentucky. Falls of the Ohio is less than a mile down the road with a nice park. Enjoyed our stay. Thanks

Check in staff, Rolanda was an excellent host. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable. The Hotel is older and lacks a few things we are accustomed to in newer hotels, such as in room microwave and mini- fridge, but it makes up for that lack with Charm and an elegance and ambiance you don’t find with more modern hotels. The surrounding area was absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed the river view and short walk to the park and ice cream shop. The local restaurants were excellent (UPLAND, great pizza and fish)

Very clean rooms. Staff was very helpful. Great value. Bed was amazing.

Sheratons are generally a bit outdated after Marriott bought them. Almost like the afterthought, but this one was pretty good. We travel with dogs so we appreciate them being welcomed. There were a couple of restaurants really close that also accommodated dogs. We walked down the street for ice cream after dinner from the hotel and felt safe. The hotel itself was right on the Ohio River and we had a great view of Louisville.
