Loved it

As a person of color I was made to feel incredibly unwelcomed and targeted during my stay at The Westlake. I was only there one night and during that night I was visited by the security staff twice in a span of two hours. The first visit was to ask if I was smoking in the room (I am not a smoker and have never smoked in my life) then upon leaving the security told me to make sure I "didn't play any loud music" because it was quiet hours. Please note, no music was currently playing in my room nor at any point all evening...so why would the staff member feel the need to say that to me? Next he came by 45 minutes later to say my tv was too loud. I was watching a movie on Netflix at mid level while sitting in my bed. So apparently after 10pm on a Friday night in the Westlake you can not watch tv and must sit in your room dead silent. It is a great feeling to spend $200 a night on a hotel room where security makes you feel like you don't belong. My suggestion for travelers of color who are considering staying here is to be very careful.

Place was very easy to find , clean and comfortable

Unique room designs, easy access to the streetcar system (the track is literally right outside the hotel), some cool bakeries, coffee shops and low-key bars, and easy access to the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail (hang a right outside the hotel on Lake Shore and you run right into it)

Very comfortable and cozy! A great stay.

Enjoyed the property very much; no staff present as it was not that sort of property; downside; television did not work, stated not connected or weak signal; called for service but no one called back; outside of that minor inconvenience; the place was nice and perfect for what I required

We loved this place… the neighborhood was very nice .. everything you needed is right there… cute little coffee shop/ bookstore two doors down… you can grab fruit from the market across the street I love that the place is keyless .. its stairs only that maybe difficult for some guest… I’d definitely book again.. and bring my family… this trip was for business… Wish you could have early check in options or late check out… Regardless it was a lovely stay

I checked in very late after many delayed flights. When I arrived, there was a loud white static noise coming from the roof that didn’t allow me to sleep. I couldn’t access or call the staff until the next morning after not sleeping. Somebody finally came to my room later that day at lunch. The property associate offered me a bottle of wine as a gift of offering for the disturbance. They never brought that gift as promised, which was a disappointment. Because of that, they allowed me for a late check-in. While I was sleeping, the housekeeper still came into my room without knocking or announcing them themselves and woke me up out of bed.
